Embarrassing question born from frustration:
How do you connect to Wari?

I actually only want to check what firmware the ecu is running. (and maybe do a backup of the tune as a just in case)

Borrowed a laptop as I only have a mac. We downloaded latest version of Wari, plugged in the USB cable, turned car to ignition.
Opened Wari and the dialog box said something like "no ecu connected"
In Windows Device Manager the computer recognises that the Adaptronic ECU is connected but we cant get past the initial dialog box in Wari.
In the dialog box we clicked "Coms port" and in there there 30odd COM's buttons and a USB button. Selecting USB nothing changed.
In device manager we checked the ECU properties and it said it was using com port 2 so in Wari we selected com port 2 and it said, please connect ecu via serial port?? (we are connecting via the usb port)

By now we were tired so gave up.

Computer is running windows 7. All the usb ports are USB3 not sure if that matters.
The USB cable works fine as I can connect a smartphone to it using adaptive tuner and it reads.

I feel like its something simple but I'm lost.

Your using a 440? or?

Try selecting the ecu, and then installing the driver provided in the download. Suspect this is the issue :)

Yup, while the PC will see the ECU Wari won't work until you install the driver.

Ridiculous noob questions...

Is the Adaptronic e440D shaped in such a way that it can be put in place of the stock ECU?
If I get an Innovate MTX-L is there enough wiring on it to reach everywhere it has to go?

1) yes, very similar shape and plenty of space to fit it. (theres even pics of Lokiels exact same install earlier in this thread..eg pg5 )

2) Yes, the MTX-L has sufficient cable to reach from exhaust bung to gauge to ECU. I have a MTX-L in my NB8A with adaptronic mounted in parallel above factory ecu and plenty of extra wiring length.

I wouldn't recommend the MTX-L for a ECU installation as the GND isn't typically shared and you get difference between what the ECU says the AFR is and what is displayed on the gauge. The better solution for an ECU installation is the Innovate LC-2 and an independent gauge that is GND'd through the ECU.

Not an issue with Adaptronic.
You will be connecting via the serial connection and gnd offset is a non issue.

MTXL will read identical in WARI as the gauge displays.

Not true of ALL adaptronic models and other ecus support digital connections too. Issue still exists with that model Innovate if you intend on using the Analog sensor wires - which is why I mention it

All of them support it even the old school E420C.

Ahh cool, didn't think the older models had the firmware support, but yeah, even all the MegaSquirt stuff could do this for over 5 years, but haven't seen many folks install them that way... so wanted to make sure it wasn't lost if someone just followed the common guides on installing the O2 sensor etc.

I've been working on an Android App for the Adaptronic ECU for a while now and it's getting very close to completion.

The App is AdapTrackit, an Adaptronic Select ECU gauge display and data logger:

Image

For details, see http://lokiel.weebly.com/android-adaptrackit-app.html, it includes a complete User's Guide.

SUMMARY:

The Android AdapTrackIt App can be used to display live Adaptronic Select ECU values and log data for subsequent analysis.

The design goal of the AdapTrackIt App was to replace the instrument cluster and present as much information as possible to the driver whilst still being readable at a glance while driving.

LIMITATION: Currently only supports 1920x1080 screen resolutions (will address this soon).

For details, see http://lokiel.weebly.com/android-adaptrackit-app.html

I plan to have this available on the Android Play Store when all the bugs are sorted but it's available for use now if you want to try it out; you can find the .apk at http://www.adaptronic.com.au/forum/index.php?topic=6235.0

It's not malicious, I promise, and there's also a "Demo mode" that allows you to play with the App without needing connection to the ECU (so you can even try it out if you don't even have an Adaptronic Select ECU).

It still has some minor bugs (eg. the default boost gauge min and max values need to be set manually for the gauge to work and I need to handle the case when GPS is stopped) which I will fix in the next week or so (just need the time to do it).

Hope you like the Vehicle icons :P

Very cool, keen to have a play with this when I get some time.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
