Euro NCAP test for the ND

Four Stars

The absence of Automatic Emergency Braking was a factor in not achieving five stars.

There use to be a lot more information available from the EuroNCAP site, via the downloadable reports (ie: specific deformation readings and Head Injury Criterion figures).

Not hard to spot the improvements available in materials to allow an aggressive reduction in weight, yet a stronger passenger cell. Particularly strong result in the side and pole test, considering the lack of roof. Important with the glut of SUV's that roll around our inner cities.

Looking forward to seeing if the IIHS in the US perform a test on the MX5 with a small overlap test. The frontal crash structure of the NC particularly had little in the way of protection directly forward of the A pillar. A 40% offset crash test would have performed far, far better than a 20% offset.

Glad to see a test for the ND regardless, no one performed testing on the NC (aside from basic NHTSA tests).
