Injectors - what are most people using with MS?

Postby wydra » Fri Oct 02, 2015 10:53 pm

Hey guys,

I am running a MS2 DIYPNP on a BP4W with the yellow RX8 (440cc?) injectors and need to go bigger.
What are other people running with the MS ECU's?

I hear the EV14 injectors have a good spray pattern and you can run as big as a 1000cc injector and keep a decent idle. I wouldn't need to go that big as I am sticking to 98 fuel, 650cc should be fine but I might go slightly larger.

Does anyone have a new set they bought and never ended up using they want to sell? Or recommendations of a good place to purchase through? I have been looking on FiveOmotorsport and from what I have seen so far, might be the best to go through?

Cheers,
Dale

anyone?
If no response I'll just order a set of 650cc EV14's from Five-o but would love to hear if anyone has had experience with them.

I've got a set of 550 from competition systems and they work well. Not for sale as I'm using them

Recommend the ID 725s. Great injector and linear :)

Thanks for the advice.

I have heard the 650cc's were a lot better than the 550's in the EV14 range so was going to go with 650's. Do you believe the 725's are better again than the 650's? (with better I mean spray pattern / linear / able to achieve good idle)

Horses for courses. The 725cc ID's idle perfectly in my build irrespective of using E85 or 98.

The injectors have never gone over 70% duty cycle. The graph below is from a Saturday Night Roll Racing at QR, simply a rolling start up the main straight (Inj light blue line).

EV14 != ID.

While they are based off the same body they are in fact a lot different.

Hopefully you aren't opposed to reading, but id rather quote the source then summarise. In this way I'm providing you sources of information as opposed to my own potentially biased opinion:

http://injectordynamics.com/wp-content/ ... rilled.pdf <- this article was written by a independent source that isn't affiliated with any brand :)
http://injectordynamics.com/articles/th ... t-cheaper/

A lot of really good stuff out there written by a guy called Paul Yaw, who's stupidly smart. He also started ID from memory :)

EDIT: Forgot to include this post: http://www.adaptronic.com.au/forum/inde ... pic=5825.0

This was written by bradley smith from turning point technology, whom is a adaptronic/motec tuner from harvey bay.

(Thread hack warning),

Are the injector dynamics product no.# ID 725-48-14 what others are using in their jenvey throttle bodies?

That doesn't seem right gehtto.

The OEM injectors from memory fit into the jenvey rail no? For a BP iirc its 725.60.11, which also is the same as what the B18s run also from memory.

Nah, the jenveys are 14mm and to use the auto+ airbox there are issues with fuel rail clearance, i talked with a staffer at the garage sale and he reffered to 3/4 length id injectors for adequate clearance.
You need adaptor rings to run the mazda injectors. I was using the 265cc purple injectors but would rather the calculated dead time info and linear flow rates of id injectors.

3gress I guess Automotive Plus would know having built at least 2 Jenvey equipped ITB's with airbox :) I could confirm what ID725 part number they used.

With respect to the Jenvey's the injectors will not go into the normal place, rather the existing holes need to be plugged with something like this http://www.jenvey.co.uk/products2/accessories/fuel-system/injector-pocket-plug-10mm-japanese-ipp04 and the injectors installed on to the Jenvey's http://www.jenvey.co.uk/images/stories/virtuemart/product/tb45_d.pdf.

I had issues with the original jenvey injector pocket plugs they had offered though it seams they have since rectified the fitment problem with a new plug offering as per link above. I had some plugs machined with a shallow taper then freezed and pressed them in. Cheers magpie, was hoping you'd, errm 'swoop in' with some advice. :D

It was found out at the last minute that I have forgot to order those plugs. Turns out Competition Systems in Victoria has them made locally so problem in the build averted.

Happy to 'swoop' in with advice, the installation was not done by me rather my wallet did. I'm glad I did it this way as I think I have a very good result in the end, plus I have gained a lot of technical knowledge along the way.
