Chucked these on late yesterday.

With a hard top and Johns frame rail braces, the car is now solid as a rock. Feels Toyota 86 solid.
Be interesting to feel what its like without the hardtop... which I'll get around to one day.

The downside though, is now I'm chasing a tiny little plastick-ey buzz from behind the dash. Now that there aren't any other rattles and shakes to worry about... I have to fix this one :lol:

Considering this is in a car with ITBs... that's a pretty good result.

Just wanted to add another positive experience with these door blocks.

2004 SE stock chassis with 120k on the odo, plus ILM style bars and 7/6 kg f/r coil overs. Doors "pop" open nicely. Drastically reduced many of the squeaks and rattles which became very pronounced after putting in the coil overs recently.

As usual, John was tops to deal with.

I installed mine on Thursday and after some judicious (gentle) work on the mounting bolt holes with a file I am convinced that they are indeed fabricated with unicorn droppings. My NC has travelled 70,000 klms and the window rattle has always been there but not anymore. For the cynics, before fitting them off I dropped one into the catch plate and was more than impressed with the fitment, it was as tight as nuts, the manufacturing tolerances are brilliant. General noise has been reduced greatly and I am now looking, listening for a really annoying buzz in the steering column.

fitment was spot on for the driver side but passenger side needs some modifications. is it okay to drill delrin?

How exactly are these meant to sit? My drivers side one is fitted but seems like it's doing nothing, the passenger side door is very tight and takes a firm slam to shut and opens with a loud pop (it's annoyingly tight).

Fruitless,
The bushes are designed to 'FIT' and drilling may elongate the mounting holes to the point of everything becoming sloppy, I took to mine with a file, three strokes to each hole and the test fitted them. I had to do this twice to get them right. See my earlier post regarding the manner in which they fit into the catch plate.

As taminga mentioned, any "adjustments" need to be done very cautiously. These items have very tight tolerances or they wouldn't achieve the great results that they do. Even a minor over-adjustment will completely stuff up the benefits.

The differences in sound, feel and effort when closing/opening the doors is only a side effect of these tight tolerances. I already don't notice the "clunk" that I mentioned when opening my doors.

No way would I change back ....

I haven't bought these yet because my drivers side door is sitting a little low. You can see an indent on the stock bushing even from where the door rests its weight and clips it on open and closes. I'd imagine that fitting the delrin bushings with the door like this would be a BAD idea.

While mine might be a more extreme case, I imagine if your door isn't properly aligned at the hinges, you'll have fitment problems at the bushings. Rather than drill/shave/alter the bushings, check your doors first, see if there's something you can do there.

(I'll be having the fine folks at Auto+ take a look at my door alignment at the next service - then I'll likely grab a set of these bushings)

If adjustment at the Delrin bush was required, I would consider drilling out the holes and installing some well matched steel/aluminium/brass/whatever eccentric bushes inside the oversized holes, if there is enough room to do so. This should then allow adjustment without adding potential for movement of the Delrin bush.

If the tolerances are so tight, and the material easily filed/drilled/etc then won't the metal door cups just wear down the plastic after however many times of opening/closing the door, and vibration/rubbing while driving.... thus making the whole tight tolerance point moot.
