I'll only be there for a few hours as doing Open Sprints at QR in the afternoon, last chance to test the car out. Would have done general practice but it was AM and this meant would not be at the Plus BBQ.

Re: Dodgy Day Round 5. 10th October, Purga.
Was planning on some smaller things from Steampunk's list below, or at least observing/assisting others with them, but I've gone and bought a roll bar from Automotive Plus this morning. Anyone else done the same thing and willing to lend each other a hand and hopefully cut down on the number of mistakes?
Still keen on the ignition timing bump, or checking if it's already been done, if there's any time left.
Also I've got some dodgy fake chrome trimming on the edge of my passenger door if anyone has a heat gun or knows any tricks in removing it.
Time to admit I'm a pom with the traditional poor BBQ skills. If the role of soft drinks / ice supplier hasn't been taken then can I put my name down for that, probably safer for everyone than my catering Where do Qld MX-5ers sit in the Coke v Pepsi, Fanta v Sunkist, sugar v diet wars?

- engine/gearbox/diff oil change
- engine oil filter change
- check/replace spark plugs
- check/clean soft top water drain
- the good ol' igntion timing bump for NA's
- rotate wheels
- replace coolant
- re grease window mechanism
- replace bulbs
And so on

I've done 3. Pretty straight forward, but it will take the majority of the day. There are 2 specialised tools that are required (besides appropriate metal-cutting drill bits);
- a 90degree drill-head or air-compressor adapter due to the tight space to drill through the "parcel shelf" behind the seats for the big bolts of the "feet".
- The other is a step-drill bit to cut a hole in the plastic trim for the horizontal bolts going into the seat belt tower.

Step drill I have. Will see about the drill head, from memory only have a 90 air wrench, not a drill, however do have a small pistol air drill.

You can buy a cheap 90 degree adaptor for a drill for about $30. It won't last forever, but mine was good enough for the A+ ROPS install, and is still alive.
You will also need a rivet gun. A shop vac is also handy to try and catch filings before they migrate too far in the boot space, particularly under the back stay mount points in the boot.
Sik-a-flex May also come in handy to hold one of the captive nuts that fits in the seatbelt tower (the one that does not accept a rivet).

i think i can still make it along so i can bring :-
drill bits of any size
thread cutting taps of any size and pitch
die grinders/angle head die grinder and rotary burrs.
limited selection of heli-coil kits.
just give me some notice if anything specific along those lines is needed for the day.

Re: Dodgy Day Round 5. 10th October, Purga.
Thanks for the above replies chaps.
I'll print off the A+ instructions at work tomorrow and start building up a list of what I need. Still feeling pretty groggy right now.
At first glance it looks like it'll be a good time to replace the seat belts while I'm at it.
I'm picking up the raw roll bar hopefully by Wednesday and will be trying to sort out the powder coating through work.
Are there any tabs, camera mounts etc I should be thinking about adding before the powder coating? (I don't have any camera right now). Or is that a complete no no?
Thanks for the reminder about the filings Hanson. Anyone got some decent magnets we can use to stop the filings going to far? Does that actually work better than a vac?

Rolley you are forgiven, enjoy the trip in the Yaris...
Roger you and Jaye can watch Bathurst, I doubt Tess will have any interest in it. Could set a TV up in the shed, just need an antenna.
