Re: Garage Star Delrin Door Bushings
I've just installed a set on my NC
Made a bit of a difference, door and window rattles have disappeared
bit of a pain in the arse with the extra force to close the door though
But cheap, easy mod works a treat

Re: Garage Star Delrin Door Bushings
So are these a one size fits all? I wonder if there were minor manufacturing tolerance differences in Mazda door fittings over the years that makes some tighter than others?

Took me 4 or 5 attempts to get them positioned right. But certainly effective

Have a read through this thread over on the MSM (NB SE) dedicated forums over in the US.

Some varied experiences with the fitment...... It appears following the install instructions is important and apparently slamming the doors a few times helps too!

They must be made of unicorn tears because there's no way they should work as well as they do.

Re: Garage Star Delrin Door Bushings
Hey guys.
Garage Star had a few delays, basically they had some issues with their fibreglass shorty consoles that a few people ordered. Everything has been sorted now and I have a tracking number. It will all arrive early next week and I'll get everything shipped out right away.

Re: Garage Star Delrin Door Bushings
Mine arrived today. Thanks John!
Fitted them and went for a drive - they're freaky! Even after reading all the reviews, I can't believe something so simple makes such a positive difference! Even just backing out of my drive over the curb drop felt different! Over a bad section of road that usually rattles my car's doors and creates creaks in the soft top, there was nothing! May just be due to this lack of noise, but the car even felt tighter over the bumps.
I had to slightly modify mine by honing out the screw holes a little so that the bushing sat a little further inside the door jam, allowing the door to sit back flush to the bodywork. This would be different for each car I should imagine. They do require more force to close the doors, which is somewhat off putting at first - especially for someone like me who always tells people off for slamming my car's doors - and there's a distinct clunk from the door latch when released due to being pushed hard against the "hook" ... but the benefits far outweigh the tiny niggles!
Edit: OH! Just noticed 2000th post!!!

Re: Garage Star Delrin Door Bushings
Fitted mine this morning. Just a straight swap in with a little clean behind the old ones.
A few door closes to line them up and nip up tight.
The door requires a firmer close to latch but a really solid sound and good close.
Then took it for a test drive. Just backing out of my drive way made it obvious what a difference it had made. No creaks, clunks or rattles on my test drive to the coffee shop.
Very Happy. Thanks John.

Re: Garage Star Delrin Door Bushings
Thanks John!
Replaced mine this morning on my NB8A and was surprised how easily they fitted. My old ones looked pretty buggered but this might be an indication of some tired door fittings and why I had a bit more tolerance to play with. Seems to have reduced some of the rattles but it's a bit too early to tell.
