Re: Dodgy Day Round 5. 10th October, Purga.
Some simple things we can tackle for those who aren't mechanically minded or don't have appropriate tools/equipment:
- engine/gearbox/diff oil change
- engine oil filter change
- check/replace spark plugs
- check/clean soft top water drain
- the good ol' igntion timing bump for NA's
- rotate wheels
- replace coolant
- re grease window mechanism
- replace bulbs
And so on
Anyone have a guard roller?

Doesn't work - tried that
Are they plastic or glass? If plastic I can bring a buff and plastic polish which is what I use on mine

I'm thinking of doing a SS braided brake line install. It's been on my list for a little while and should be a good Dodgy Day job.

Make sure you bring the brake fluid as well.
The scales will be out for corner weighting, depending on the day should be able to do at least 3 cars. Would need to start rather early (as well as bring your C spanners, I have C spanners for BC Racing coilovers) on these as the setup time is a bit time consuming. Not to mention each time an adjustment needs to be done the car has to be jacked up, wheel(s) taken off, adjustments made then wheels bar on, lowered (rinse and repeat).
Can do scaling only if wanted, could fit these in between corner weighting.
Corner Weighting (order of preference)
1. (will arrive early around 0800)
2.
3.
4. (may get this one done)
Scaling only (no corner weighting)
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
Rumor is there is a diff change being done.
For those who have not been to my place before, the shed has room for at least 3 cars to be worked on (the shell will be moved out for the day), plus more than enough car parking space for visitors. There will be 2 x shade shelters setup and the main garage (2 bay) can be used for detailing if needed. there is also a concrete slab in the paddock but no shade. I have 3 x sets of stands and 2 x trolley jacks, however the corner weighting will use a set of stands and a jack.
For the non participants there is a market on the Saturday at Yamanto (5 mins away) as well as a Supercheap.

I won't take much corner weighting time, just want to see how much it's out and do one ,perhaps two, adjustments to get it close to balanced.

I was thinking of trying the viscous LSD I have sitting on the bench... I bought it as a spare for $50 thinking it was another open.
It bench tests ok according to the info I found on Miata.net but I'm in two minds as to weather I bother or if I pull my doors apart and regrease my regs and fit new guide bushes to stop the rattles.

I was going to suggest that the car car be pushed into the dam, but a grumpy old bastard fits as well.

So long as nobody ends up here...

I've only done one diff on mine so far... but I'm up to a total of four swaps/replacements now. The shafts being rusted into the hubs is the only hard part, though if you're swapping same for same you can leave the shafts in the hubs and just unbolt the upper control arms.
I'll see how I'm feeling on the morning, I have a feeling I'll go for the path of least resistance though and play around with the windows hopefully I can sort out some new guides between now and then.

Anything is possible on a dodgy day, it can't be as hard as a clutch change...
A fire is OK as it can just be pushed into the dam as well
