Re: Adaptronic owners thread
Good. Seems to know his stuff, is quick to get the tune right, and well priced.
Only downside is you sometimes have to book a fair bit in advance as he can get pretty busy. Though guess that's also a good sign that he is in demand..

Re: Adaptronic owners thread
strange that he will look after you though not new customers
What are your specs rascal? Did you have any trouble with idle/cold start? that is what they said can be the issue.. why tune it 4 times? (you keep modding the car?)
Can you give me a ballpark figure on your first tune?
Considering tuning it myself now..
Thanks for the info!

... sounds like they haven't tuned any of the new Select ECUs with alternator input, this REALLY helps with idle control when the A/C kicks in - no more stalling.

Re: Adaptronic owners thread
Also second the current gen standalone adaptronic.
Nitrodann just installed a select adaptronic in my SE and it hasn't stalled. Not once.
Cold start and idle is perfect. Throw any load at it, AC, headlights etc solid as.

Re: Adaptronic owners thread

The new standalone Select ECU is shown on the left, sitting on top of the OEM ECU (it's tine) - the one on the right is the original piggyback Select ECU and is slightly larger than the OEM ECU.

Re: Adaptronic owners thread
The "current" NB8A ECU is still the same size as the one on the right, but it doesn't have provisions to connect through the OE ECU.

The current nb8a standalone ecu is the same size as the smaller one on the left in that pic Tim.

Re: Adaptronic owners thread
Does anyone know if the standalone select ecu's control the EGR valve or is it a solenoid activated on throttle input? (Ie open during part throttle, closed at idle and full throttle)
I assume if it's no longer controlled by the adaptronic ECU it would be permanent closed?

Re: Adaptronic owners thread
It's controlled by the ECU on a na8. I can't comment on the rest as I've removed the valve.

Adaptronic ECU doesn't control the valve, typically you use block-off plates (eg. http://www.trackspeedengineering.com/Trackspeed-EGR-Blockoff-Plates.html)
I can't comment on what the default state is (open vs closed vs indeterminate) so block it off (I have a blockoff plate sandwiched between the block and EGR valve so it looks stock.
