Another clutch discussion for 200rwkw

Postby bear2230 » Mon Jul 27, 2015 11:02 pm

Hi All,

So continuing this on from the garage thread. The white car has an Exedy heavy duty sports tuff and has started to slip after just a couple of months and less than 1000km's
I do drive it to and from work most days so needs to be street friendly.

So as far I have come up with these have 4 options.

(1) Nathans Tilton twin plate from the NA arc car. Might be a bit aggressive for street driving but not sure yet.

(2) Ive been emailing Adam from FRSport.com and he has called ACT and chatted with them for a bit about my car and what where looking for and they clutch kit that they recommended was the following: http://www.advancedclutch.com/zm2-xtss $560.00 US delivered so about $750.00 AUD.

(3) Doug from NPC is recommending a Custom Clutch with extra heavy duty cushion button clutch kit for $753.50 + $40.00 freight.

(4) OS Giken I'm also unsure of. The TS2A is nearly $1900.00 for a street dríven the noise and engagement issues that would drive me nuts.
The GTS1CD 'soft' clutch I'm having trouble finding comments on it and its still $1600.00.

Leaning very much towards NPC and the moment but nothing is set in stone yet. I'm in no super rush as can still just turn it down a little and will fine for a while and not interested in anything from Flyin Miata.

Would like to hear from anyone who would like to chime in.

Thank you.
Richard.

My NA8 currently has ~210rwkw, and have had the Exedy Sports Tuff - Heavy Duty Cushioned Button kit running in it for over 18 months (about 6 months with the current power, ~175rwkw previously) and has held up quiet well.
dríven to work every day (only ~25km each way), and does about 10 hillclimb events, 1-2 supersprint events each year.
It has been a daily clutch, although it does engage quiet quickly, but you can still take off reasonably softly.
One bad thing is if you ride the clutch at a certain point, it will shutter, but that may be due to bad flywheel machining.
Cant remember the exact cost, but it was around the $650-700 mark, for pressure plate, clutch plate, and throwout bearing.

I've got the Goodwin happy meal combo and works fine on my car (163-176rwkW). I understand that is the same as the Xtreme clutch kit that Mania sells.

RaceClutch by Jim Berry, end of thread.

He will sort you out with exactly what you need at a good price.

Don't have his number handy, but Google is your friend.
