Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
That was the best organised and most enjoyable new car release I've been to. Blue Mountains Mazda ooze enthusiasm for the cars and deserve every sale they get. They were generous with the test drives and the local roads suit the MX5. The new car is brilliant with superbly weighted steering and probably the best manual gearbox I've come across. The drive out of corners with the limited slip diff makes my old NB look dated - which it is. This ND is one "planted" car. There is a lack of torque so the gearbox must be used and the engine revved to get the full sensation but it all comes so naturally. Seat comfort and suspension damping is almost perfect, a big step ahead of the NC. The overall experience is pure MX5 and owners of earlier models will be right at home. That's my take on it and I'd have one tomorrow but having just moved house it will have to wait a while. Also, I'd like to sample the 2.0 litre before committing.

"Nevyn72"
Nice to see the MX's older sister in the Mazda car park.
Lotus S4 I think.
I remember those days well.

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
We just came back from a drive through the blue mountains, we stopped off at Blue Mountains Mazda and had a look at the NDs. I'm very impressed!
There was an NA (in mariner blue
) and NC and an ND parked in a row. Really highlights the differences between the models.
Next time I'm going to go there in daylight, to get a better look at them

Incredible day yesterday
We were truly amazed at the turnout and counted more than 60 mx5's at one point. Thank you to all that came and helped make the day a lot of fun.
We appreciate everyone's patience with waiting for a test drive. We had 3 cars working pretty hard all day and completed close to 50 test drives! Anyone who missed out or wants an extended drive please contact me to arrange

Couldn't agree more with Camerons comments.
Was a cracking day to host, we had a photograher on hand taking pics all day, love the one below. Chops' car certainly got well tested! I joked elsewhere that the bottom photo was the reaction when i told Yamamoto san how many MX5 owners were coming to test the new car. Pretty much the perfect day when your a car dealer who actually likes cars. Hope everyone left well fed and thanks for the support.
Oh, and we still can deliver you a 1.5l ND this month but i'd be quick...

949-Racing have released their 6UL for the ND and WOW!
Very nice, this is the 17x8 (@~6.7Kg, or 1Kg lighter than the factory 17x7) which needs no modifications, 17x9 will also be available but will require some massaging to fit.....

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
Close inspection of the specs has uncovered some interesting things:
Comparing 1.5L vs 2.0L ...
Tyres are 195/50R16 vs 205/45R17
Tyre diameter is 601mm vs 616mm
Ground clearance is 140mm vs 150mm
Overall height is 1225mm vs 1230mm
With no other changes, the difference in overall height (5mm) should be the same as the difference in ground clearance (10mm), and both equal to half the tyre diameter difference (15mm). So either there is some funny rounding effects made in deriving the figures, or the 2.0L might have a different spring rate / ride height.
I wonder if the 2.0L has a different speedo calibration to the 1.5L? Otherwise, with 15mm difference in tyre diameter, there would be quite a difference in speedo accuracy. I've yet to check the accuracy of the 1.5L speedo.
Also noticed that compared with the base 1.5L, the base 2.0L gets larger brakes (F/R 280/280mm vs 258/255mm), MZD with Satnav, DRLs, and a few cosmetic differences (gunmetal wheels, black side mirrors, black third brake light, not sure about colour of rollover hoop covers). Considering all that, the price difference of only $2575 base / $1608 GT is surprisingly low.

Brake sizes in brochure are the same for 1.5 and 2.0.
Stock already in short supply on the 1.5s. Order book for 1.5 will keep filling and delivery dates will keep going backwards. The 2.0s expected at the end of the year will soon all be allocated to people who've placed deposits. The sooner you place your order the sooner you'll get a car.

Then Mazda will need to correct the online brochure I downloaded from the Mazda AU website.
It shows 258f/255r for the 1.5 and 280f/280r for the 2.0

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
Yes I picked that up as well,i think the brochure was rushed , either that or they spent too much time on photoshopping the the wheel arches down to get rid of the $WD look!
Still a lovely looking thing, a 2 ltr base with some springs and exhaust is looking better all the time.
Peter.

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
How tan is the tan interior on the ND. I am not in a position to see one live. The colour in some photos is quite pale - particularly the left hand drive models - while the brochure is more of a standard tan. Has anybody got any photos that accurately reflect the colour?

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
It's a creamy fawn colour. Nothing like the "prosthetic" tan in the NC.
