In my opinion there has always been a larger than normal element of poor driver standards and/or poor driver attitude on display at the Six Hour. This becomes particularly evident in the wet.

My observation suggests that this year we had a large number of inexperienced and unaware drivers, driving fast cars relatively slowly, and performing all sorts of erratic and unpredictable maneuvers out on track.

I've noticed the same "bucket list phenomenon" at Easter on Mount Panorama.

David, when you posted recently I'm wondering whether you realised that this thread was over twelve months old and actually relates to the 2014 event?

Well I did not make 2015, maybe 2016 :) Provided I get some more seat time and possibly some experience driving on the track in traffic.

Guran, we feel the same, good strategy but we failed to deliver on it with a couple of mistakes on Sunday, and one on Saturday in predicting Sunday's conditions.

Tony, you are quite right, and I think this bears on David's comment - caution is required when overtaking and that may mean losing more time that we might think is absolutely necessary, in order to create more room to react if it looks like going pear shaped, or waiting for a better opportunity.

I don't think that there is any doubt that, in the stewards room, the overtaking car is going to wear the consequences if anything goes wrong during the overtake almost regardless of what the other car did, and that seems the case here. In this case, they have also pinged the other driver for his part in the incident, so there is some consolation in that.

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

I’m with you David. I reviewed my GoPro footage today and there’s plenty of instances of me going around the outside of vehicles, though I did pick my time to attack carefully.

I think my best was three abreast around Siberia in the final wet session, with the white Mustang in the middle and me overtaking with my outside wheels on the ripple strip. Pity my GoPro ran out of battery a few laps before as it would make interesting viewing. This was one of the advantages of running street tyres. I was secretly hoping for a wet track all day but I know it would have been hell for the pit crew. :D

As indicated by Bryan, the remainder of Greg Llewellyn's "off track" photos have now been posted here: http://www.narraphotography.com.au/p682269772. These include the grid shots.

Does anyone else have any photos they'd like to share? There were lots of cameras out and about in our group of garages.

Here's a short edited video from the first practice run in the wet on Saturday 1 August. The car is shod with Michelin PS3 road tyres.

When I get time I'll do a dry run.

Although MotoGP orientated, this is still a bit of fun.
