Clutch made up by Carters at east maitland. Steve used my old cover from the hd kit, machined it and set it up to test clamp pressure. He has included some shims in the clip bag to get the perfect pressure, thanks Steve!

Ceramic cushioned sprung button clutch... each word is there for a reason...

All good, dropped it to Dann's for the engine build which was happening this weekend.

It could look awesome...but ill have to wait and see. Should be ok, fingers crossed, bit of work prepping these bits, thanks Greg at Stockton Smash.

The colour combo should work well with the silver. *two thumbs up*

I wouldn't do it myself as my car is red and there would be way too much red IMO.

Translation, will cost me more to get contrast in the bay.

Thanks for the comments, nothing like a painted rocker cover to draw out some cheers.

I had previously painted the black rocker myself...and was pretty disappointed with the finished result (even tho I followed the bloody instructions, except for the dont paint on rainy days bit haha), even used the oven for petes sake, recommend you make sure you have some bacon to burn afterwards to cover the smell.

This round of paint throwing was done by Greg, a customer of mine who owns a panel shop so I want him to do it and get it right from the get go, be different if life wasn't so busy, but it is so I'm hiring more help building this car than I've done in the past and the headaches have been shared around with them, but so has the money lol.

Well...you put a lot more effort into it than I did.

Dann will remember this - we took the rocker cover off, I cleaned and sprayed it...and used a heat gun to wrinkle the paint. It lasted fine...until the car got turbo charged.

I don't think the heat from the turbo caused it to bubble off - it was probably poor preparation. In any case, it lasted a couple of years and I'll need to take the cover off, strip the paint and do it all over again.

Updates...

Motor is back together and back in the car and running! Dann tells me it started cleanly and even gave me a call at work to let me hear it running (what a bloody good thing to do for the customer, thanks! ).

Some quick pics of the new turbo oil feed.

The motor ready to go in.

Today the flex fuel sensor is being fitted today as well as a 255 walbro hp fuel pump, then it gets dríven gently before the run in oil is dropped out, refilled with synthetic and dropped over to Anthony for its two new dyno tunes, 98 and united e85.

Moderately frothing...

Nitro Dann has done a brilliant job fitting the flex sensor up under the tank with all the right connections and wiring it into the ecu.

A few delays yesterday and today but good progress.

A previous owner had replaced the mx5 fuel pump with a 110lph walbro unit, but also had unhelpfully modified the fuel pump assembly.

Dann needed to return the assembly back to stock with mazda wrecker parts and then fit the 255lpm walbro.

The wiring of the flex sensor into the ms3 ecu required info from the guy who built it, Reverant. He replied with diagrams etc and Dann was able to wire it up with the sensor wiring running from the fuel tank back to the ecu. Tidy.

Tuning the ecu to calibrate between the two maps to give an excellent tune for not just full throttle but every day driving may take some time to perfect but looking good for dyno time over the next few days when Effy can do it.

When will it be ready? I dont even let myself think it. No one could possibly know whats next, when all the steps are followed... then the patient will be allowed to go home and play with the family. Time to book some track time.

Sharp 90* fittings for fluid plumbing?

Maybe I'm just being paranoid from my days of watercooling PCs and overclocking the crap out of them, but the rule of thumb for that is to minimise the length of your plumbing and minimise the number of sharp bends otherwise your pump needs to work too hard (the smaller the pump needed the better when building PCs, there's usually not much space available - hmmm, maybe it was perfect preparation for modding an MX5, not much space available there either).
