Queenstown to Glenorchy NZ

I just drove the 90k round trip from Queenstown to Glenorchy and back in a hired, somewhat tired NC . Brilliant road! At 100 kph, lots of the twisties are 80-90 absolutely flat out. A fantastic drive by the lake at Queenstown ( I promise you, you wont have time to look at it!) , no police that I have seen, and virtually empty roads. I encountered 4 cars on the entire trip. And they all pulled over or waved me past.
This NC from a Christchurch MX5 rentals company has pretty good suspension...definitely aftermarket coilovers ( I havent looked yet) but better than my yellowspeeds. Pretty good tyres, 150,000 ks and Jap spec 5 speed and I am guessing a 4.1 diff....its a really nice combo that I prefer to the 6 speed aussie spec. ( it is ltd to 180kph...and then the rev limiter cuts in...but I wouldnt personally know about that.....) . I came over for a week to explore the South Island in an MX5 and have been blown away by the roads... Definitely coming back for more!
O6 Marble white NC ;91 Malibu Gold NA 1800 BP4W;1990 BRG LE hardtop, unmolested, original; 1993 Brilliant Black hardtop, unmolested, restored.

That sounds like a lot of fun! I've always wanted to go to NZ, but for the snow more than anything else. If I do manage to get over there one day, I'll have to check this out I think.
