SE Rear Brake Caliper Kit Availability?

Postby Danny » Tue Jul 14, 2015 10:03 am

Seems to be unavailable. Does anybody know a source or if the main seals and O rings can be sorted from generic parts. my dust caps can be re-used.

SE does not have unique brakes. SE has NB8b brakes (NB8c is the same). These are referred to as 'sport brakes' in some circles.

Thanks Dan. I'll try my local brake shops again.

Danny,

I just had my front calipers rebuilt and was told that a kit is NLA, however all the required parts can be ordered individually (they obviously also fit other applications). You may need to leave the caliper with the brake shop so they can measure up the seals etc.

I hope that helps.

Going by Keith Tanner's book on building a faster MX5 the only difference is a 1.375" vs 1.25" piston. If everything else is the same maybe a standard kit with a separate piston seal might be the go.

If anybody near the Hills has a standard rear caliper they'd let me borrow to compare that would be much appreciated. I don't want to dismantle my caliper until I have a kit.
