Hi sorry this subject has been raised before - any suggestions for the best coil over shokies for an NA ???

That depends on your budget and intended use. It's no good recommending $2.5k worth of Ohlins or MCA Reds if they are way beyond your budget or unsuited to your use.

Newcomers need to be introduced to the search function, and not to expect to switch their brains off and be spoon fed by others. There are lots of examples of people asking questions just like the OP's. In this google age, it is disappointing that people are unable/unwilling/too lazy to do some homework for themselves.

I am sure the OP is a nice person really, but he(?) is only the latest in a long line of what we older people refer to as bludgers, in these cases intellectual bludgers.

I have no problem assisting people with their queries, but I am not going to waste my time on these sort of fishing expeditions.

And no, this post is not a waste of my time, because I feel a lot better already

There are not too many options that will fit your budget without some comprimise. The current thinking is BC Racing or Yellow speeds would meet your budget, however they may be a bit harsh for daily use. It is rumoured that the same place where the BC's are made many others (including Pedders) are made there as well.

Daily use will be impacted by your choice of springs have you thought about this? MX5's like to have the unsprung weight kept as light as possible and if you have heavy wheels this will also impact on handling/suspension.

My advice would be to get a good alignment, make sure the bushes are in good condition and keep an eye out on the forum for some second hand coilovers that come up everynow and then.

Search out the Tein Flex Z thread ... they look just a bit more than your budget but Tein is good quality. Tempted by these myself ...

Must admit I just pulled the trigger on these myself. Given the Jaffa goes in for its new roof to be fitted on Monday I'm trying to work out how to work the purchase into conversation with my wife...

On the forum thing, I'm more than okay with new members being steered to and encouraged to use the search function or be more explicit in their questions, but I have seen a number of forums where newcomers were fairly aggressively mocked for what were perceived as "newbie" type questions, and it seems to be a symptom of forums becoming insular and eventually dwindling away to nothing as people leave and there is no new blood.
