I quite like the way the Porsche ones look:

I somehow want to encorporate the vintage Mazda M logo.

I hadn't thought of the curves that you mentioned though. It's not massivly high on my to do list though. But one day ...

? Starting image wasn't high enough resolution to do more details like the Porsche ones.

Only issue would be what to do on the opposite side! Haha :P

Edit: This would work... a tad more subtle too:

The other way you could do it is have the strip sweep up a bit towards the wheel arch after the door to counter the contour of the body like the side skirts on that orange SE.
Looks good in my head, probably not so in the real world

Thanks :) Yeah, I get what you are saying..... doable but would take somebody much more skilled than I a long time to get it looking right :P

Why not just "mirror-image" the old-school Mazda logo on the other side?
While not strictly correct, it would cool.

I might take a look at mine myself  local sign writer put them on -maybe he was partly drunk  anyway I think the side stripe idea whatever style you go for is fine.
when I had the double run over then bonnet first when it was silver with blue and later white with the red - it attracted the cops more. I never got pulled over but when I pass rbt's - you would see them actually look!
I decided I'd be less noticeable without them. I think the stripes over the bonnet to coppers just attracts them to you so I quit while I was ahead

Lol, don't want that :P

Those ones weren't for me.... I was just procrastinating :P I would just be looking at simple ones stopping on the door, like on the last page.

I still have one more exam on Monday but one of my friends just offered to install my LSD + 4.1 tomorrow whilst I'm studying!!!

yeah I took a bit of a look at it today and I think you boys are on the right track with the side stripes going to the door edge only. once it gets past there to the rear section or flair panel t it does look a bit out of whack
if I had better vision   I might have picked it up 3 or 4 years earlier  after the paint job when i had the guy design and install the stripes but better late than never.
anyway good point out and it might be worth a re-work on that rear panel at a later date

I have a nice wide painted silver stripe down the middle of my car and only been pulled over twice. Both times for a licence check and breath test.

Haha, sorry my intention wasn't to detract from yours at all. It does look awesome. Just looking for things to learn from others experiences to improve in the future :)

Yeah, I think it would make it a bit more obvious.... but I still like the idea. I will see how I go after I've installed all the stuff I've got sitting here already.

Dropped the MX5 with diff off at my friend's place for him to start the install. I had already bought poly bushings for the rear cradle mount, but on closer inspection the new diff seems to have aftermarket rubber mounts (maybe I.L.?) that are still in good condition and a better design than stock. Since they are still good and I would appreciate the NVH of rubber for now, I think we will put it in as-is, my friend can use the poly mounts in his and I can replace them later on if I want the stiffness of a solid mount.

This is what I went with, you can't see it but the rear bumper is silver and the stripe goes across the boot and joins up with the rear dumper. At first I hated the blue but now...

But I love the blue! :P

So Torsen 2 LSD + 4.1 got installed with the poly bushings and wow... what a difference! The shorter gearing is amazing, but taking a bit to get used to on the hwy.

Not a day later the Tein Flex Z coilovers went in. As expected, the factory settings were pretty terrible. Got them better now, should have the EDFC on soon. I do want to raise the car a little too. I also installed the IL Motorsport clear reflectors and side indicators.

I installed the IL motorsport LED 3rd brake light too (a bit painful!) but didn't take any photos from the back.

I did a AAMI defensive driving day yesterday too.... it was pretty tame in comparison to ones I have done in the past, but its always good to do another in a new car, and a discounted premium too (until I move, because their agreed value is a joke).

Been a really busy week planning and hosting my 21st, but yesterday I got some more parts from IL Motorsports.

Image

Upper and lower shift boots to do the quickshift install, clutch slave (mine is leaking badly), fuel filter for next time I'm servicing it, stebel compact tuning air horn and the final chrome trim piece (I bought a silver one last time so it didn't match -.-);

Image

Car is definitely too low, scraping the under body bracing on every speed bump, no matter what angle or speed I take them at. Will raise it when I do the EDFC.
