You can get a new sump plug with an "o-ring" half way up the thread, that apparently creates a seal.

Quick update.
The oil leak is still there. Its leaking from the drain plug, not the oil filter.
I noticed that it only leaks if I take the car for a drive, which is almost every day.
Gonna order a new plug and new washers, then replace them after my exams. So in about 2-3 weeks.
The oil level is still around full, so hopefully the engine wont get damaged.

Oil thins as it heats, so the leak after driving would just be the oil getting thin enough to seep out. it's pretty normal for a leaky sump plug.


Engine won't get damaged unless you ignore it and let the oil drip out until it's low, since the difference between low and high on the dipstick is about 800ml, and the leak is presumably just a drip, you should be fine for a fair while.

Yeap, saw some at repco a while ago. Might just grab those haha.

mineral oil

I used Valvoline 5W-30 synthetic oil.

Then it should be amber, not brown when going in.
