Re: NC 20BPP Time Attack / Track Car - Build Thread
Some good news....the production of the outstanding composite components is underway. The aim is to have it all completed and installed by mid-July. This will give us 3 months to test and set the suspension. It's less than 150 days until WTAC 2015!
A bit of due diligence on the used HKS sequential averted a disaster after crack testing highlighted the imminent failure of a dog ring. So this has delayed the installation for a few weeks.
However, it hasn't prevented the necessary modifications required to allow its fitment. As the box is essentially a modified FD3S RX-7 gearbox we were able to use another box to undertake the necessary modifications.
A little weight reduction was a nice bonus.
A new PPF was constructed from pieces of RX-8 and RX-7 items. The tailshaft is unmodified. The other bonus is that the gearboxes are interchangeable....just need to use the appropriate PPF and clutch slave cylinder.
Seeing as the rear muffled section of exhaust has been essentially torched and the mufflers appearing to be ineffective I thought that we might as well save some weight.
When we fired up her up the extra dB proved otherwise! So the 'torched' rear muffled section of exhaust went straight back on.
I'm looking forward to getting some more seat time over the next week.
Cheers,
Danny

Hi Danny,
Is that a thermistor in the diff housing?
Is the shifter in the same position on the FD gearbox out of interest?
Cheers

Racelogic Vbox Lite with a micro input module (RPM, brake/TPS sensors plus 2 other 5 volt sensors if required) and OLED display (lap timing etc).

Was trying to work out what all the grind marks were from in this pic.
But then I see you mentioned 'weight saving' so I assume they are a result of the factory gusseting you removed?

didn't think so. he was not entered on the WTAC website.
oh well, the track and competition are not going anywhere.
at least he can have a longer time to test with the new aero!
