RS Instrument Cluster

Postby Driv3r » Fri May 22, 2015 1:09 pm

Anyone has any review on the quality of these panels?

Is this company (RS Products) the manufacturer of the old RS Refine rings?

Pretty sure these panels are equal in quality to the AWD ones.

By RS Refine rings if you mean the big fat rings, I'm not sure if its the same vendor or not, but the rings are no longer an off the shelf item. Tetsuya Garage organised a group buy for them a few years ago with the Japanese manufacturer, and a limited run was made.

I found with my previous AWD one that the refections from the faces made the dials almost impossible to see.

Possible solution http://revlimiter.net/store/glass.php any excuse to visit this site...

I've got a slightly different problem in that all the metallic stuff reflects when the sun is behind me and I am in fact literally blinded by the awesome!

I have an IQ3 now no reflection issues now, only decision is which screen to look at. However on the track it does not get much use...

Never installed this, note the reflections.

I'm gonna retrofit this on my spare cluster this weekend. Got some spare pilot lights and brushed steel.

Today's progress so far. This is on stock panel for size test. Will have I.L.Motorsport rings and brushed metal panel background. Will use stock plastic cover for now. Might order some long life viny text fir lights later. Any feedback?

Interested to see how the rings go in driv3rs project. I can use Google.

Driv3r, which rings are you getting? The normal ones or the deep vintage ones?

I've ordered this one a while ago but changed mind and went with Garage5. So had this spare. Will post a photo soon. Cheers

Nice work on this! If you're using a brushed metal background I hope you've got a line on a nice one... There used to be some on eBay, which I bought, but they are really quite low grade and rather too thick to use effectively with gauge rings and stuff.

After hours spent trying to get that perfect cut, I just gave up. This needs to be laser cut. So I ordered a pre-cut brushed aluminium dash plate from USA. Will post updated progress soon.

Finally the search is over at a cost of my own arm and a leg! Found a new full set of authentic RS Refine Rings in the box! The issue of reflection is because the set comes with perspex not glass. For this reason, I am going to order Revlimiter's anti-reflective lenses. Now I have to sit back on my own ring (haha) and wait for the RS babies to arrive.

On the other note, I have also received the I.L.Motorsport's rings yesterday. So this weekend they are going to be installed on my instrument project pictured above. I have also bought compatible red LESs for background lights. Will upload a progress photo tomorrow.

Have a good weekend boys.
