Re: Snowmotion's NB8a
Shouldn't the rear be ~12mm higher than the front?
Look forward to the pics!

Practice and a hoist helps.

MCA specify the cars the same height front and rear. It can be changed if I want but will see how there specs work out.
Pics coming soon, just dealing with a leaking battery.

Re: Snowmotion's NB8a
Having removed the factory wind blocker to fit a MX5 Plus roll bar, my wife now comments / complains of too much wind blowing her hair around.
So a solution was needed. Perspex seemed like the bust option but not really worked with it before. A few internet searches and I was now and expert
Designed it and made it in a couple of hours on Sunday.
I am not 100% happy as I would like to make it easier to remove and install and possibly will make a v2 that is a little lower. But overall really happy with the look. Now to see how it works on my next drive.

Re: Snowmotion's NB8a
Finished off the wind blocker today with a small modification from the original plan.
I found the wind blocker needed a more stable fixing at the base to stop movement so fabricated a piece of white U channel plastic, use Vinyl dye to change it to black and stuck it to the roll bar. I removed the rubber edge from the base of the perspex as it was too tight a fit but left it on either side. I was now able to fix with just 2 velcro straps.
I may make a lower profile one also as it was quite fun to make.

Re: Snowmotion's NB8a
One problem with perspex is that it tends to dull/fade over time and become less transparent (looks like crap) when in the sun.
I used VHT Nite-Shades to "smoke" my DIY perspex windblocker (when not using the decklid) to keep it "looking good".
My DIY windblocker is only as high as the factory one which doesn't obstruct the view from the rear view mirror.
It does make a big difference so was definitely worth the effort to make.

I am sure you are right about the glazing of the perspex. The VHT coating looks like a good idea.
I do intend making a lower one as this one makes raising an lower the soft top an out of car operation but it is effective in reducing the wind.
Lets call this larger one the wifes and I will make a lower profile one for my driving.

Re: Snowmotion's NB8a
Found a solution to the sun glazing perspex. The shop I went to advised me that Polycarbonate is UV resistant.
Wind block V2 will happen on Saturday. (low profile version)

Looks much better than my last minute 11pm dodgy effort before driving towards recently snowed on Goulburn on the weekend! crude but effective lol
What did you use to cut the shape? Jigsaw or router?

I used a fine tooth Jigsaw which worked very easily. Sanded the edges with 400g sand paper and then flame polished the edge.

Re: Snowmotion's NB8a
Completed V2.0 this morning. The Polycarbonate (Lexan) is the same to cut and put holes in like the Perspex but the Lexan can not be flame polished on the edges so I need to do a bit more sanding to get the finish I want.
The revised height is better below the revision view and the Lexan is UV resistant so should last longer.

Re: Snowmotion's NB8a
A new PB at Wakefield for me of 1.15.66.
Mostly a good day with 8-10 laps in the 15's but managed to hit an errant Orange cone on the back straight and broke the air guide.
A good fun day.
