Just a misunderstanding. MX5 Mania rocks

Postby Driv3r » Fri May 15, 2015 1:46 pm

Bought an item from their eBay store on Wed morning, paid straight away hoping I received it by Sat (since I'm only 35km away) so I can work on the car. Still shows hasn't been posted. Sent them two emails since Wed with no reply, called them twice which goes to voice mail. I could have gone and picked up if only they responded.

On the other hand, I ordered instrument rings from I.L.Motorsport head office in Germany on Tuesday, got them delivered to my door today (Friday).

Well, such is life.

The timeframe of receiving the item is pretty normal, Australia Post can be a bit slow sometimes.

A while back I purchased a pair of item (not from mania, completely unrelated) one item was from Europe, the other from Sydney (i'm in Melb)
The European item arrived about 2 weeks earlier than the Australian item.

There's no excuse though for not answering the phone or calling you back.

Yes our postal system is from Stone Age. I read somewhere that South East Asian countries have better postal system than Australia. And, Australia post have just hired a new CEO from India. Fingers crossed!

Seems a bit early to rush to print and bag Mania.

I agree, relax, they are a small team of real people whos main priority is going to be the deadlines on the cars in service, I know for example that the guy whos job it is to fix this issue just had a newborn.

SIB,

1970s is over. Just like how we pay more due to inflation, businesses are improving their customer service and will be compared against each other on service quality. As a paying customer, I expect one reply to 4 messages left since Wednesday specially when my item hasn't even been posted yet! I don't think I'm rushing or bagging Mania, I said so far not impressed with the experience.

If they are busy for getting back to paying customers then there is a serious problem in their business plan and infrastructure.

However, if the one guy handling customer correspondent had a baby then that's fair enough. I guess I can change my plans and work on the car next weekend.

My issue with this kind of thing is they have no issues with taking your money.

If they are too busy to do things properly then stop taking orders.

Small business's like this can't afford to have someone sitting on a computer just waiting for an email to respond too straight away.
I always expect to wait at least 2-3 days to hear a response via email from any small busy business, especially when parts sales aren't the core part of the business.
Phone call message should have been responded too but it's easy to forget to check the message bank every now and then.
Especially since he's recently had a baby (baby brain? :P )
Plus I never rely on ebay for fast delivery on parts. I ordered (non car related parts) from a store in Sydney and it said 2-3 days delivery time. Took nearly 2 weeks. I'm sure if I rang and ordered it would have been delivered next day.

I think the issue isn't so much that they havent called, it's that they aren't communicating with the customer at all.

It's literally a 2minute job to setup your email to automatically respond with "We apologise for the delay in posting your order and attending to your emails and calls. One of our staff members is currently on leave and we are endeavouring to complete all orders in a timely manner etc"

Not saying you shouldn't chase them. Am saying you shouldn't go public this quickly to trash them and their livelihood.

Just got my item delivered! I mean WTF, at least reply to my messages. I feel bad right now and my apologies to MX5 Mania but non of these would've happened if they replied since wed.

Just a misunderstanding. MX5 Mania rocks!

All insults welcome!

I used to run a printing business and shipped stuff all over Australia.
9/10 times Aust posts tracking never keeps up with the parcel. I would get calls from customers chasing packages that still were listed on Aust Posts site as being at the depot in Brisbane where I lodged them and they would call back 20mins later to say it had just showed up... in Perth.

That said, Communication is King in business no matter how small you are or how cheap the purchase was. People will tell 10 mates about shitty service and never mention a company that did things to the letter.
