That's something I'd like to know, how does the surface difference between soft top and hard top affect lap times. Really just out of curiosity, can't imagine it would be enough for someone inconsistent like me to notice.

The ballooning increases frontal area. So that would be more important than the surface texture.

However if the texture of the soft top is similar to shark skin then there maybe an argument, if you could stop it ballloooooning...

Enjoying the randomness of progress of this topic.

Before the next round the roof clamps will be properly adjusted so they both click positively closed and a separate security tether will be added, both to avoid the present tendency for the roof to open at inconvenient moments. Mind you, at a little track like Broadford it might be no slower to have the roof down?

More importantly, the oil leaking onto the exhaust needs to be dealt with to stop the smokescreen which caused me to black flag myself at Sandown last week.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

Having the soft top down versus soft top up, will be slower at every track you go to, due to extra drag.

Its just the effect is less at the slower tracks. ie you might lose 2 secs per lap at Phillip Island, yet only 1/2 or 3/4 sec at Broadford or Winton short track..
