Turret

Postby Red_Bullet » Mon May 04, 2015 10:36 pm

I serviced the turret, new bushes, oil and so on, changes like new now, it used to crunch going to 3rd, not anymore, its like new now. BTW It is really worth a look, there was no oil in mine after 21 years. Yours also will most likely be dry as mine was.

I assume it's an NA 5 speed, check the oil again in a few days, mine used to drain back into the gearbox.

Don't know how that would happen - I thought there was no connection between the two cavities in the NA's anyway.
NB SE, NA 1.8.

Correct there is no oil connection between the two, but the gear stick is connected to the box via a rod that runs from the turret to the box, inside a protective tube. The tube has seals to stop oil flowing from the turret to the box or the reverse, but over time these fail, and the turret oil leaks into the box.
