Yeah a 270+ degree cam with a considerable amount of overlap will bleed a lot of compression.

Agree with zossy and ice but adding that itbs make it worse. I basically have atmosphere pressure at anything over 30% throttle under normal driving revs.

What brand is the coolant reservoir? Is it a straight fit?

Hey bruce,

The parkers are just smoked-black replacements. The old ones were cracked - so just decided to replace them with a darker pair that matched the wrap a little better.
The overflow tank is a Moroso unit - and is indeed just a bolt-on replacement.

If and when I ever get the tune right, I'll report back on how many extra kilowatts I've gained from it :roll:

Waiting to see the results. Having another ITB build in the Brisbane area will be great especially when each build has been done differently.

Might be a long wait though based on the rate of progress I'm making at the moment.
It's the first thing to be put on the back-burner every time something comes up.

I had intended to play a bit more with the tune on the weekend and get some logging over to Grant for a bit of a once-over, but never got the chance.

Have also since noticed a little puddle of purple red line shockproof on the driveway. Looks like the guys that rebuilt the gearbox didn't replace the rear seal... So that's now yet another job on the todo list.

Have to remind myself every now and again that this is meant to be a hobby, not a chore.

Personally I would have to say for me it is something to be dríven not an expense.

Will still have to try and have a MX5 ITB meet one day.

Hi mate, just read this build thread from start to finish and had to say awesome build. I have a jenvey kit on my 97 astina (ghe770 on www.astinagt.com) and things would have been way easier for me if I was aware of all the itb builds on here. Anyways hope it is happening for you fella. 8)

Hey mate,

Not too much progress to be honest. The past 6 months have been brutal work-wise. That's the way it goes though when you work for yourself - you've got to take it while its there!!

Only just the other week though I managed to at least pull the engine again to hunt down a little oil leak that's been bugging the hell out of me. I pulled the engine thinking it was the half-moon seal at the front and that I was going to have to re-seal the oil pan, only to find that it was actually from the camshaft seals.

Coming up to a bit of free time now though, so hopefully in the next couple of weeks I can sweet-talk gslender in to finally helping with the tune! I tinker with it every now and again, and have at least managed to get it relatively driveable, but it needs a lot of work.

Got an exciting weekend coming up next weekend though. I've got a set of 6ULs and Wilwood front brakes in the post :D

NA6 turbo - 140kw atw - not the most powerful but so much fun :D
