Good plan since you do not need to extra inputs. I do need them, plas I need a CAN Hub

Re: Anyone considered E85?
Update:
I ended up purchasing a Continental Flex sensor with wiring loom for $80 shipped and I have also received my 1000cc injectors. I need to sort out my fuel lines as they are going to get in the way of my Honda intake manifold, so I'm thinking I might cut the lines at the base of the firewall and run AN lines up to the flex sensor, FPR and fuel rail. I may as well chuck in an easier to access inline filter too.
Running E85 for the first time, can I do anything to prep the fuel tank and lines? Would it be a good idea to put in 20L of E85, let it sit for a few weeks in the tank and fuel lines and then pump it out whilst bypassing the filter? Hopefully this might clean out any gunk the E85 might loosen before putting the car on a dyno.

Just run it and swap filters regularly for a month.

Re: Anyone considered E85?
Easier said than done. My car runs two Bosch fuel filters. Repco retailed them at $100 EACH. I US fleabayed them for $25 each. Now to go buy an aluminium AN fitting spanner to get the braided lines off...
I swapped back to 98 RON.

Re: Anyone considered E85?
My car is over 26 years old now being a 89 NA so I doubt the fueling system is in the greatest condition. Also, the event I'm running it at is 6 hours from home and over two days so I don't want to miss runs or an entire day with filter issues.
I have a spare stock fuel filter already but I'm thinking of a secondary easier to change one in the engine bay and potentially bypassing the stock filter altogether as they aren't easy to change on the day. I can get a billet inline style Earl's Performance filter which has replaceable elements at around $15 a pop. So I figure thats probably the best and cheapest way to manage the clogging into the future.
edit: $15 for the filter element, $75 for the 6AN filter (cheapest I could find with a replaceable / washable filter)
Is a 40 Micron sintered bronze filter ok? Can get a 10 Micron paper one that is apparently compatible with E85 but I think that's overkill. Can also get a 100 Micron SS mesh but I think that's too course. My injectors have a 10 micron filter in the tops.

Re: Anyone considered E85?
Everything you said makes sense. Yes to the 40 micron, I can supply a filter for around that price delivered.

Re: Anyone considered E85?
Cool thanks. Can you do AN fittings by chance?
I'm going to placing an order with Summit Racing for the fittings and stuff. I haven't found anywhere locally that has OK quality fittings at the same price.

It runs pretty well off idle but several months and countless trips back to the tuner and it still doesn't idle or set off on part throttle consistently or reliably. It behaves differently on each fuel, and differently depending on air temp, under-bonnet temp, humidity, whether the a/c is on, etc etc. Warm start-ups see it rev to 2500, or not, depending on what mood it's in. All of this is at best inconvenient and at worse dangerous.
It goes to a different tuner in a month.
I'll immediately report back in this thread to confirm whether the issue(s) was/were hardware, software or tuner.
Apologies for the delay in reporting back.
A few minutes of tweaks by someone better known for his mechanical work than for ECU tuning changed the car from one which was extremely difficult for me to drive into one which my wife was happy to drive having not dríven a manual for 7 years. She didn't even mind the race clutch (much) and said she liked the horsey noises the engine made.
My previous certainty that the Haltech was no good has been proved wrong. It was the tuner. For instance, AFR was at 19:1 at idle.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

GOOD NEWS!
My car starts on E85 very easily, much better than 98.
Following all your issues check your CAT (if you are using one) for damage as this could give you other issues.

Re: Anyone considered E85?
Self tuned on E85 and no issues starting, idle or run. I can only assume people with starting issues didn't make the needed adjustments.

Food for thought... I've seen plenty of E85 (or alcohol based fuels in general) suffer from injector blockages running the filters in the top of the injector. An option is the 10 micron inline filter, and removing (not fitting when new) the filters in the injectors. If its a surge tank setup, a good setup can have a 100µ from pre pump to surge, and a 10µ from main pump to engine. The 100µ would be stainless, which can be easily cleaned, and the 10µ paper would get replaced. Fluid/filter testing can provide accurate information to help setup a service schedule so you have a better idea of how often you should change things, but generally, if you are thinking about changing something, then change it.
You can also buy E85 specific Gates Barricade rubber hose if you're concerned.
This is not the only way to do it, just another way some people set up their fuel systems.

I have never and would never run injector bucket filters.

Is that for alcohol based fuels or all fuels in general?

Re: Anyone considered E85?
I'm about to change the rubber parts on my fuel system. They are 27 years old so I figure it will just be extra insurance for a small job. Super cheap dont sell this sort of stuff so I have to source it on the net.
can anyone confirm the size of the fuel lines?
6mm internal?
got a brand spanking new fuel; filter in. i'm about to order another one ....any suggestions how long I should leave it for before changing Fuel filters?
