Sometimes it works out well. As it happens, a green NB is the car Tash always wanted to own when she was a youngin'. Now she wants an 86 :p

Oh Ross, Tash was cool till you said that!

Just kidding, I guess that's an upgrade from her current Toyota...

Oh snap! Well, I wouldn't say no to an 86 if you're shouting... Let's put it like that.

If you're shouting though, I'll take the Lotus thanks. Pit crew included, of course.

Plan for this year was to not modify, eh? Nice to see you gave up on that one :P

Your profile pic caught my eye since I just picked up a midnight blue NB8B too.

I also picked up a Torsen 2 LSD, but with a 4.1 final gear ratio, since I'm a bit of a wimp about 3600rpm at 110 :P Haven't got it installed yet though, so happy to hear that it is such an improvement. How are you finding the new seats?

Another month down, how are you finding the coilovers? I hadn't really heard of those before - I was just going to pick up some Tein Flex Z, but there is a decent waiting list on them at the moment (~2 months).

Will surely see you at a Brisbane meet sometime soon - keen to check out some hard tops too..... I am fundamentally against them, but midday traffic on a 30 degree day is not fun with the roof down, and there is no visibility with the roof up :P

Well, plans change when parts fail ;)

You know, the extra revs are not even a consideration any more - my fuel economy has barely changed (cruising on the highway anyway, hard to tell around town) did 8.77L/100Km on a trip to the coast recently, used to do between 8.2 and 8.5 anyway. Well worth it for the extra grunt the higher gear ratio provides.

On the seats, love them. I fit in the damn car now, even if it took a while getting used jumping in and out. Your mileage may vary, I used to get pretty uncomfortable in the stock seats, so even the lack of padding is an upgrade by comparison.

The MCA Blues are outstanding. Haven't had a track day on them yet, but at speed, when cornering or when hard on the brakes they feel leagues above my old worn stock ones. Highly recommend (haven't heard anyone not recommend them yet...), and they're made locally. All other things equal (and they're not), it's worth considering them just because of that. Around town? Much harsher on the shitty roads in Brisbane. But she's no daily, so eh. Unless yours are shagged though, leave them in and get used to the car on the track first.

See above re: soft-tops and how much I don't dig them. Bought the current hard top on the 12th of Jan this year, hasn't been dríven without it since. Previous top was on from end of Octoberish last year till I bought the new one. ...soft top needs to come out, I think.

If Friday isn't wet (not likely), I'll be going to the Nebo meet, might see you then!

Opps, forgot about this thread.

Car is still alive, though the clutch hose decided to split a week ago - been sitting in the garage waiting for a new one to arrive from the states since.

I don't think anything on the car has changed since I got the suspension done, except fixing a tear in the soft top. The soft top that only got used twice last year, because except for two weekends; It was hard top all the way.

More to come.

Clutch line fixed. Car moves. 10/10.

Green is the new line, straight from master to slave. Ended up leaving the bottom hard line in the car - bent it out of the way and crimped the ends. I'll remove it later, maybe.

:

MX5Plus sells these too (cheaper after you factor in S&H and MUCH faster).

Yeah, nahh. Ended up being slightly cheaper for me to get this one, did take longer - but it wasn't that long.

After experiencing my clutch pedal go dead, I thought it wise to to replace the aging brake hoses too.

Ended up buying a set of (ADR approved!) lines from Brakes Direct - their website is terrible, but they're quick on emails and the parts arrived the next day. Can't argue with $158 for a set.

After much kicking and screaming (also bleeding), the new lines are now in the car. Special thanks to Andrew for helping me (read: I have no idea what I'm doing half the time) get them in the car and bled properly. Quick hoon later, can say the brakes haven't felt this good in a while.

Might explain why the fluid we bled out looked so bad... open the picture at your own peril.

Quick update, before I forget.

Doing the clutch/flywheel and maybe the engine mounts next weekend, keen to see how it feels afterwards. Should be a fun little rev-monster with a lightened NA6 flywheel behind the BP-Z4.

Flywheel (So light, much rev, wow):
Image

Forgot to put a pic of the brake lines last time, so here's one:

Everyone has seen a clutch kit before, so I'll skip that one.

Yes, I will weigh the clutch/flyweel before it goes in to compare it to the one I take out. Apparently the stock BP-Z4 ones are close to twelve kilos, new one is apparently under four.
Because reasons.

Which engine mounts did you go with?
