So $27K in Japan means it will be mid-high $40s when it hits here.
Even the article mentions the (starting) price of $27k in Japan is only $1200 cheaper than before, so with local prices at $47K before doesnt suggest they will be very competitively priced. Which would match with the not very competitive engines.. sigh

Unless mazda stops dicking around and prices it competitive to the 86.
86 and mx5 are similar prices in other markets and in those markets the mx5 sells just as well I read.

Mx5 is quite a bit cheaper than the 86 in the UK.
To be fair though, poor UK is paying way more for the 86, around 25k sterling.
