That was an NB BP motor, this an NA6 B6 motor which uses HLAs.

If it is a valve clearance problem and you have the standard NA HLAs all you have to do is wait a few hours. This problem only occurs if you fill the HLAs with oil or soak them in oil before you install them.93_Clubman wrote:Mr Morlock wrote:the guy had to reset the clearances after buying new shims - it's a thought.

Re: newbie looking for help with an na6
Hi guys,
compression is down?
All between 135 and 140
all the treads and articles ive read state the na 1.6 dont have adjustable valves?
Would that be affecting compression?
Will be rechecking to see how the rings are.
head was shaved so not sure why compression is down.
any ideas

The 1.6 (or B6 or NA6) motor (like the NA8 1.8 BP motor) has a hydraulic lifter assembly, as opposed to NB8 1.8 BP motor which has solid lifters & shims, hence my point above.
How did the motor run prior to doing the head work & how many kms has the motor done?
As you probably know compression readings can be extremely variable depending on how it's done, so I wouldn't immediately read too much into them, but then again you know how the motor was running before. Here's a recent comp test thread:
