newbie looking for help with an na6

Postby Forster » Thu Mar 19, 2015 10:32 am

Hi all,
Sorry to come in looking for help of the bat.
I recently did the head on my wife's pride and joy which she has had for 15 years and everything thing seemed to go well but on trying to start the car it runs (bairly) chugs and won't rev at all
I thinks I've gone through every post looking for a solution and covered all possible options but the no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

So far checked and rechecked timing, spark, had injectors checked, new fuel pump and the afm appears to be working.
Not sure where to go from there

Just wondering, is it possible to put the CAS in 180 degrees out or will it work either way?

Have another look at the cam timing, a lot of people manage to muck it up.

Did you fill the HLAs with oil before you re-installed them? If you did then they're probably overfilled and as a result some of the valves aren't closing. Sitting under pressure in the engine lets the HLAs slowly bleed out the oil and return to normal working length. Leave it overnight and try again tomorrow.

have you checked the compression. . Are the valve clearances correct. Ps just noticed mangas post and he will recall that a member had a prob on a rebuilt head because the valves were not seating and the guy had to reset the clearances after buying new shims- it's a thought.
