I always thought the MCM guys should've fronted that awful aussie 'top gear'.
Would've been much, much better.

You mean like MCM? They got backing from Screen & Sound Australia and made 'Lend us a Ride'. Was ok, but sure wasn't MCM.

Yes.

an article (I think on the ABC) specifically said "male producer"

There's a few of them, they just don't have the million dollar per episode budget. "TV" is a pretty loose term these day anyway considering the number of screens your average house hold has in it.

I know of a couple of guys who could take it over quite nicely

It's been cancelled before. Old old Top Gear used to be a serious car show before it was stopped. Tiff wanted to restart it on a different network but BBC wouldn't allow it so Fifth Gear happened. Then Top Gear restarted in the silliness form it's known for now.

It might be gone again for a while now but might restart again in a new form.

That site hardly seems authoritative. Clarkson, Hammond and May have said nothing over twitter except for james saying So; it's been a week, and still no answer. How exactly do you pronounce 'fracas'?

Top Gear is usually run in 7 episode seasons, so i think its all just hype and publicity for the show.. the last episode was number 7. Clarkson is known for using the media to his advantage

There were another 3 episodes left in this season as Clarkson made a point in one of the early episodes of saying there were going to be 10.

I have the documentary film maker Louis Theroux on my Facebook feed and his next series of docos have been brought forward to fill the timeslots.

I know he made the point of it - makes it look more planned then doesn't it... make a big point about having 10 then stop at 7 like usual. nothing like chumming the water a bit..
Then after petitions are setup for support for Clarkson and Top Gear the BBC see how powerful the show really is. he uses media to his advantage a lot he is a smart guy despite his Orangutan appearance hahahaha

from the reports the crew went and cooked or something because staff weren't there - so why would it get to a point where someone gets clocked? if I had the choice of some hack cooking me a steak or me doing it i'd grab a beer and start cooking...how many times have you paid $40 for a decent steak to have it butchered by some peanut hahaha
