Hi Everyone
Someone decided to scratch the rear of my folding hardtop just behind the door glass and it needs to be painted. The spray painter wants to remove the trim at the edge of the roof that is between the door glass and roof and also the trim attached to the roof that surrounds the rear screen when the roof is up.Does anyone know how to remove these or do I need to buy new pieces?
I tried including some pics of the trim pieces with no luck.
Thanks

Try a Mazda dealer to see if parts are available but don't be surprised if they tell you that you have to buy a complete roof.
The alternative is one of the US Mazda places that will have parts. If no luck in Australia, try:

Also worth emailing Chris at Targa Racing as they may have one:

you might want to check if the painter knows how to remove the parts- its unlikely they would risk damaging the items. The other option might be to paint in situ and not take the risk. Also you could check Mazda to see if the components are available.

If they are a rubber moulding the painter should have access to bulk rolls of replacement rubber. It's a fairly universal piece (generally it's the same/similar to the windscreen ones)
If it's a hard plastic you may need to contact Mazda spare parts dept for a replacement if the painter is unable to remove the part without damage.
Another option may be to ask somebody who replaces windscreens, as they need to remove these kinds of trims every day in order to replace glass. Perhaps they could offer some insight (either a yes it can be removed if carefully, or a no it breaks if you look at it wrong)
