NB8A CD Stacker in boot

Postby vscalais » Mon Mar 02, 2015 8:58 am

Good morning. Quick question please...

Where does the NB8B CD stacker mount in the boot? I purchased a 2nd hand unit for my NB8A but unfortunately no brackets.

A picture or two would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, David

Hi smy0003

Thanks for getting back to me. My mistake. I think the 6 CD stacker mounted in the boot was an option for the NB8A.

Does anyone out there have a NB8A with the 6 CD stacker in the boot? If so can you please send me some close-up pics of the installation?

Cheers, David

Hi AndrewM

That's exactly what I am looking for. Thanks. I will call the dealer (but not hopeful).

Hopefully someone else can supply some similar pics.

I have an NB8A with the factory stacker.
The stacker was generally a dealer fit item, and as such the installations differ depending on the dealership.

Mine was mounted on the lefthand side of the boot, vertically and bolted to the boot floor with 2 L brackets.

Unfortunately I dont have any pics, and have removed the stacker since it got in the way.

When I can be bothered i'll be moving it to a more useful position.

edit:
not an MX5, but this is similar to how it was mounted on mine:

But on the left, towards the wet storage bin, and with much smaller L brackets on each thin end.

Just make sure to check the switch on the side of the stacker is in the correct position for a vertical or horisontal mount.

If you acted like a intersate buyer they may do some pics for you but depends on how they view potential buyers / customer service...

Hi hks_kansei

Would you be interested in selling me your CD stacker? Or even just the brackets?

Cheers, David

Not really looking to sell the stacker sorry, i'll be putting it back in when I get to it.

As for the brackets, one is the proper Mazda one, the other is literally a bent piece of tin. I think the dealership may have broken the original bracket (or maybe a past owner?) and just used the tin.
It would be quite simple to make your own brackets (steel, drill, vice, hammer), and you could then also place the unit in a much better place than the factory did (it really does get in the way there)

If you're having trouble finding the stacker itself, it was a shared unit with some Fords too.
I had an identical stacker in my Ford Mondeo (I actually kept the cartridge from that one so I can have 2 sets of 6cds loaded)

If you want/need part numbers or the like I can dig it out and send you pics.
