Spoke with Chris the Engineer today, he thinks it should be pretty straight forward with the only issue being the noise of the exhaust. I'm not to worried about the noise.

He charges $1200.00 which isn't cheap,  half of that cost is the inspection and the rest is for the Engineers report.
next is to get it tuned, nice and conservative at about 140rwkw and he needs a dyno sheet with hp and boost pressure. it then needs to pass emissions and Botany and finally needs to be weighed.
Then back to Chris for the report and he also will do the blue slip. He is a full time motor mechanic an Dino's in Miranda and does the engineering on the side.
Then off to the motor registry and transfer the ACT rego to NSW and were all legal :D :D

Thats the plan up to now but we will see what Benny at Port Hacking Auto has to say next week….

Cost me $600 ten years ago, to get a modded atmo car engineered - walk around, sound check, drive around the block (that's all I remember). I might have been overcharged, but I would think $1200 is unobjectionable today to engineer a turbo.

Good luck!

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

My Engineer charged me about $1100 for the tons of mods done on my car (engine swap, brakes, 1/2 cage, wheels, etc).

Had a trip to Lou's today and picked up some missing parts. I was like a kid in a candy shop. So much cool stuff it makes your head spin.

(1) SE Stereo/surround and gear lever cover.
Looks great in the light but unfortunately there is no power going into the fusebox on the audio socket. I can only imagine Nathan used it to power some kind of stupid friggin VTEC related accessory or something. :o :o
Image

(2) SE front strut brace   Dann, Lou will collect my first one from you next time he's up.
Also detailed engine bay, moved the EBC and replaced those horrible blue hoses with some black vacuum hose from Repco and put in a couple of access holes in the air box so I can remove it easier. Then fitted some Acetal bungs that I turned up to seal it back up.

(3) Some new foggies as the other one were actually yellow fog lights. Great for fog but the yellow looked sh*t so they had to go.
PM me if anyone has a use for actual fog lights. I can't remember the last time I even saw fog.

(4) Boot carpet and the last missing panel as well as a jack and a tool kit which were also missing. Installed my Shark 2 stubby antenna. Boot is now finished…..Yay

Then fitted the hard top to Scooby. Looks a bit like Regie's car now

Thank you Lou. Sorry I couldn't help Mrs Boyracer chop wood.

Col at Ricol finally finished the emissions tune (De-tune) today including installing the WBC1 - Single Channel CAN Wideband Controller Kit.
Haltech E8 was locked and Chris the original tuner was absolutely no help at all unlocking it so we had to do the whole thing from scratch. Good one.
Turbosmart vee port has been removed and blocked off. Boost is set on 6psi and its getting a whopping 106rwkw on 98.

Emissions test is booked for 10.15am next Wednesday. Im quietly confident it will pass.

Also bought a really nice Carbing 3 point front brace. Friggin Rupewrecht.

Hmmm...that's low. Was that because of the de-tuned state?

I get about 150rwkw on 6-7psi

Its a serious detune. Very emissions friendly Bryan but 150rwkw on 6-7 is quite high for a decompressed built engine.
If yours was a standard NB8B bottom end I could see it quite easily.
Scooby is on 12psi. Built engine 8.5:1 comp pistons and is currently on 160rwkw but with a very safe tune on Port hacking Auto's dyno.

Emissions test Dyno sheet from Ricol. Pretty happy with the tune first up. No idle issues, nice and smooth and a lot of fun to drive. Almost wouldn't know it was a turbo.
Pretty much 5psi and nice AFR. This will make a good reference base but quite a bit short of Patricks. :D :D
Also noticed the nuts holding on the dump were quite lose so tried to tighten them up. Friggin damn near impossible to do. I think that is job for special ratchet type open ender spanner. I couldn't get them real tight but enough to notice the difference in volume. I would say its quieter now than most cars except for the flutter when you change gears.

Image

Carbon fiber wrapped the air box and also lined the inside with Focal Bam sound deadening. It will need wrapping again as that was my first go and I butchered it a little.
That made quite a bit of difference as the big aluminium box was a bit of an echo chamber.

Image

Also fixed the Stereo. A fuse will do that. Not the stereo fuse though, an accessories fuse that was taken out to probably stop that annoying peep peep when you leave the keys in. There was also no sound al all on the right. Turned out to be bad contact on the crossovers and after seeing the way the speakers were mounted I am surprised the whole thing didn't short out and catch fire. Marty at FXRX would have had a heart attack if he saw it. Its too embarrassing to even take photos.
Thats a fix it properly job for later. I do like the multi CD changer though on the SE head unit.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Emissions test tomorrow at 10.30.
Tune is good, Exhaust is awesome, Air intake is sealed and soundproofed but uni-filter really sucks in the air hard and is still a touch noisy.
It's running on 98. I'm quietly confident. Lets Rock and Roll.
