What does this relay thing do?

Today I installed a new fuel pump relay into my NB8B and noticed there is a small black box with 2 pins that looks a bit like a relay next to the fuel pump relay. Nothing is plugged into it and I couldn't find an unattached spare plug. Does anyone know what it's for?

OK, so no one knows what it does. Does anyone know if it's plugged into anything on their cars? It seems really strange for Mazda to install a black box then not plug anything into it. Normally it's the other way around, a spare plug not plugged into anything.

Its not power for the demister?. What else needs power behind the seats?

The fuel pump relay is under the dash, with a whole heap of other relays and this little box with 2 pins just near the fuse box

Optional Demister?

Both the aerial and demister work. Actually everything seems to work so I don't know why it's there

The US cars have a switch to disable the passenger airbag, could be related to that or a factory option alarm system?

I dropped in to visit the local Mazda dealer today. No idea off the top of my head, I've never noticed it, I'd have to look up the workshop manual. Not particularly helpful.

Maybe the question I should be asking you guys is there anything plugged into it on your cars?
