The doctor says upper and lower control arms and the wheel bearing need to be replaced. After that it's off for an alignment to see if the rest is straight, but visually everything else looks good. If that's all, I should have it back by the end of the week.

Intercooler stayed in place Magpie

Good news especially about the intercooler :)

We may have to swap cars one day for a few kilometers.

Some not so good news.

Control arms went on, but didn't fix the issue fully, they took a closer look at the subframe, and it's creased, which means it's got to go. They don't have any in stock right now either so I'll be without my car for a while longer. This will be a lot pricier I think, from what I understand the labour on this is a bit intensive.

Well crap! This week is not going well.

I'm sure with the time his car spends there, he wouldn't notice and I'd get my car back quicker, unfortunately that won't work because I believe the NAs and NBs have different subframes.

Magpie, your car better not rub off on mine and have it start thinking that it should hang out more often at Auto Plus. I need my car!

I would notice because mine does not have a hair dryer :) Your wallet had better not hope that your car wants to spend as much time at Plus as mine does....

Scuba? Who said Scuba? I think I better fit one of those to my NB tomorrow considering the forecast for Thursday/Friday where they estimate anywhere between 200-600mm of rain!! If that happens i'm marooned! :( and would have to have Friday off!!

Oh man, that sucks to hear about the accident and the crease subframe. Did you badly damage any of the wheels in the accident?

Did you notice much of a difference with the new intercooler? It made a noticeable difference on my car. Making it more consistant with its power delivery.

The wheels balance and seem fine, so while that might be a small win, they were the only part of the car I actually do want to replace!

I didn't really notice much from the intercooler. Most reports suggest that it won't do much for power, but will prevent heat soak, so you can continue to make peek power run after run. However, I have a full exhaust and intake, and I'm not running increased boost, so YMMV.

While I really really really want my car back, with the weather this weekend, it's probably good that she's tucked away at Automotive Plus. I've borrowed my old car (an Audi A3) from my brother who doesn't use it durring the week. It's strange being back in that car, and it seems so huge now!

Automotive Plus have found me a subframe! All up, the costs are slightly less than I anticipated, so that's good. Still, it's going to be an expensive 3 laps of QR. The subframe should arrive Monday and I should have my car back Tuesday or Wednesday.

But I'll need some new tyres. Any recommendations? I'm still running the stock boat anchors (as Lokiel affectionately calls them), so I think we're looking at 205/40/17s.

Achilles are a good priced tyre that is reasonable quality, I had 235/50/17, I think, on my S14, were fine even when the woosh kicked in when raining, from memory around $130 a corner from Option One at Hamilton. They can also set up the car for ride height and alignment for you as well.

Option 1 also deal in Federal 595RSR's which are a good tyre for light track and spirtited road driving.

Next choice would be FZ201's or DZ03's however these would not be a long lasting tyre choice for normal road use. Plus you will need to run some serious negative camber to get the most out of them.

If you had 15" wheels you could try on a few different types that I have at home.

Option One might be a good choice. I know where they are and could probably arrange to do them before or after work.

Any thoughts on Kumho KU31s? Tyresales.com.au list them at $181 a corner, send them to a shop and have them installed.
