Installing clear lower front lights? (NA8)
Hi all. I just installed 4 new clear reflectors and 2 new clear round side indicators from Mania no probs. Tick!
I also bought 2 new clear front light/indicator assemblies - the wide 'thin' ones that sit under pop up lights. I unscrewed an old one (just 2 screws) and promptly pulled it out...only to discover that there are 3 bulbs to connect; Two are plug and play (easy) and one is a double split loose wire thingy that needs connecting somehow?!?
Unfortunately the last thing I wired up was in year 9 science.... So I'm clueless. Does anyone have any experience or advice on what to do here?
Thanks, much appreciated.

If others don't know, maybe call mania. Reckon they'd know.

Re: Installing clear lower front lights? (NA8)
There should only be two bulbs in there. One for the park lights and one for the indicator. Sounds like a previous owner might have some some customising?
Is the mystery 3rd wire connected to anything. If not I would suggest removing it and just sticking with the normal setup.
If you are still unsure post a photo or two and we will see what further help we can offer.

Re: Installing clear lower front lights? (NA8)
Oops I got that wrong. Thanks though Fellas. :p
There are indeed only 2 bulbs. Here are some photos to explain - one photo of the OLD light hanging from the bumper, and one of the NEW light on the garage floor (where it shall remain until I can get some advice.) Basically what I'm unsure of is how to connect the new lights into the dark depths of my bumper?? And to what! Especially the yellow and white wires.
Any help much appreciated.
Thank you

The simplest option to me is to simply remove the two plugs on the new light.
The existing plugs should then plug directly into the new light.
It looks like the new light has been provided with replacement bulb holders, which are un-necessary if your current ones are still working fine.
The different colouring, may well be as simple as whichever company the made the light has not followed the same colour coding as Mazda (pretty common with aftermarket parts)
as for the extra wire on the larger socket, if the lights were purchased from overseas the plug may be wired for foreign cars, which sometimes had minor differences to Aussie ones (I think the USA had different requirements in regard to parking lamps)
Regardless, using the old plugs in the new housing will mean there's no need to re-wire anything, and you can keep the new plugs on the shelf as spares.

Re: Installing clear lower front lights? (NA8)
Thanks hks_kansei, but unfortunately they are a different kind of plug so using the old bulb housings are not an option.
They are indeed from Mania, and I spoke to Ajay today. He was helpful, and kinda intrigued to find out more himself about the wiring up of these lights. I'm going to take a closer look on the weekend. It certainly looks like some soldering is required unfortunately.
Stay tuned...

Re: Installing clear lower front lights? (NA8)
That's a bugger with the sockets being different.
If that's the case all I can think is to unfortunately cut and splice the wiring.
Thankfully bulbs are simple to wire, just a negative and a positive.
A bulb will still light even if you get them back to front.
The little one with the yellow and white wire will be simple, just attach those two wires to the two on the old plug.
The larger one with the 3 wires seems odd, do they have bulbs in them already?
3 wires would normally suggest a twin filament bulb, like a tail light (tail and brake) or headlight (high/low beam)
Were the lights advertised as having any extra features? like DRLs or something?

the seller does not seem to know what to advise you. I would not cut anything unless you are fully aware of what you are doing.

Re: Installing clear lower front lights? (NA8)
So are you saying that mania supplied you a set of parking lights that don't work on our plugs? Seems highly unusual.
If that is the case and given the chance, I'm sure they'd rectify the situation.

Yeah, Mania are all good with it. They were apologetic they aren't a straight plug 'n play replacement as expected.... although to be fair I think it's equally a case of my own mechanical deficiency causing the issue!
All good. He said i can send them back if I want.
Thanks for all your thoughts gents
