It was said months ago. The new car will be competitive with Toyotas/Subaru and hot hatches. If the price is not competitive they will not sell and Mazda will know that. I cannot see them offering a choice of engines. A non turbo 1500cc will not sell here. Besides Mazda will not want to offer a lot of choice in a low selling car. These cars must appeal to a range of buyers not just car nerds .

I know the NSW Club had it up on Facebook a couple of months back (?)

It's a cracking advert, paying respect to all the previous models.

Looking exotic especially the rear which makes me think of the Jag F type. I like it.

Suddenly I'm not sure if I want to give up my pop-ups!

The more photos I see of the ND headlights, the less I like them, they're way too small aesthetically - I'd even prefer a retractable colour-coded cover over them when they're off, it would look better.

Now that the ND has been released, I'm going to speculate that the ND MKII will have bigger headlights.

Looks like the old White, Grey, Black, Red paint option....pretty bland for a "Sports" car

Personally don't get the all black wheels
Don't mind the retro look of black wheel with polished rims....but all black...nup
Wouldn't be hard to have a silver wheel option?

Easy to change I suppose...

I'd go Silver body, change wheels and add bright orange trim at ground line
You can't demand respect....you have to earn it
NA8 for Fun, CX5 for carrying crap...;)

Is it me, or does the front badge look really big.

I expect to see the 2.0L with a higher specification trim level retailing for a similar price to the current entry level NC.
I expect to see a more basic 1.5L offered at a price more competitive with the BRZ/86......

Costing estimates are based on the false premise that the pricing of the 86 in our market is indicative of worldwide pricing.
The US market 86 (Scion) is priced close to the NC in the USA. There is no indication that Mazda will decrease the cost of the MX5 in the USA. In both markets the 86 has not sold to expectations.

If Mazda can't reduce the price of the MX5 then i dont expect you will see huge sales.

People won't cop a weedy 1.5L engine in this market unless its cheap cheap cheap.

Those who read Today's drive com .au would have noted around 130 kW for the 2.0-litre. That would be fun but the more I see of it the more I will have to adapt - for instance the large steering wheel emblem is very pretentious to me - at least the hand brake is on the right side for us. The article says the speedo is centrally mounted giving it a sporty theme. However it's the tachometer which has the central spot in the picture.
