BS!

Noiseworks and Midnight Oil (never really got into INXS other than "Don't Change") were awesome and even better live which you really can't say about too many bands in the last 15 years.

Agree that it all boils down to personal opinion, but first impressions usually stick; I never liked the bloated look of the NC but loved the classic shape of the NA/NB so bought an SE - I still feel the same way 6 years later.

I think it's great that they are going back to the original formula dimensions wise.

The nc was getting a bit too big.

Funny how some ppl knocks the looks of a new car modles and like to protect what they have and live in the past.
In 3 years all will be fogotten on how the ND looked and the knockers will be knocking the face lift ND.

So very true.

Have seen it in the flesh and cannot wait. The new Dynamic Blue looks brilliant on the new 2 and will look great on the ND. It feels like an updated Winning Blue which I have always liked

Will have my plates on a first production month car and will be chasing stock ND lap record at Wakefield for 2015!!

Well the NA/NB had a width to length ratio of 0.4253 and the NC is 0.4278...so about the same proportion.
The ND will be 0.4419 = short and fat.

Does anyone else not find that emoticon hilarious... it is like a "the can's" eye view of Marge Sim.... oh never mind...

For mine, for looks, NA is the ducks nuts, ND closely followed by NC and I will put my hand up as the one bloke that does not like NB's much... although they can be "toughened up" by roll bar/wheel combos to something i do like...

I could never justify a new roadster, particularly as we are about to have another one... so hanging on to the one i got is looking shaky... :|

Spot on. I'm always surprised how much people play up the NC being "so different" when the maths is right there.

I think the eyes can be deceived by some designs in the automotive world -- and not just the NCs by any means.

On a personal note I think the NC is the best looking of all the models including the ND.

Having owned noth NA NB and NC. I absolutely detest all cars with pop up headlights including the Mx5. I think they look hideous.

As for the cardigan carrying jibes re NC owners I think it tends to get boring here such comments and frankly puerile.

The only negative I would makere Nc,s would be the gearbox when cold. Yes, its a bit notchy.

As a young-ish lad, the price of the ND would be the deciding factor for me. Also, the Electric Power Steering it is said to have does make me wanna wait a bit to see how it settles with the experts on track and in reviews.

It should be fine...Mazda have had it on a production car since the inception of the RX-8 in 2003.

EPS works just great in the Mazda6 if that's any indication of how it will be.

I think it will be fine, here's a good article that's written about the 991's Electric Power Steering Unit http://www.total911.com/opinion-in-defe ... -steering/

I think the last line sums it up well and I think it will be the same on the MX5 "the 991’s steering system may be different to the previous water-cooled 911s, but that doesn’t mean it is worse."

"Tom is the first person outside of Mazda to have dríven every generation MX-5," says Doonan.

Long was able to sample a pair of ND MX-5 test mules while in Japan, essentially the forthcoming edition hidden beneath the current car's skin. "It wasn't the car that we have now seen at SEMA and the auto shows, but the underpinnings of the car – the chassis, suspension, and drivetrain – were all of the ND," says Long. "We ended up having the NC, the current car, along with two versions of the ND, the 1.5L along with the 2.0L."

Long took the opportunity to get driving impressions of the new offering. "We went out and did back-to-back comparisons, and I was really, really impressed with the balance and handling of the new chassis," says Long. "I know it's hard to imagine, because everyone knows that the MX-5 is such excellent handling car, how much better it could get. With the lighter weight, that SKYACTIV mindset through the entire car, through the chassis, the refined suspension, the engine package; power to weight wise, the car accelerated quicker. It definitely had the feel and flavor of an MX-5 under it. They hit the mark on that."
"A Convertible has a top you can put down when the weather's nice...... A Roadster has a top you can put up when the weather's bad."
