Yes 5 speed limited edition 1991, What I was trying to say was if the car has low Ks there isnt any wear and everything feels and is tight so no need to stuff around with knobs to fix something thats not broke . And if you do need to fix a gear change problem why not do it once and do it proplerly look at the linkages ect ?????

You really need to drive a car with a MR SSK
The way ssk's are designed the pivot point is changed meaning less distance but also less leverage to change gears.
My SE gearbox is perfectly fine and have experienced the exact same thing as Maniaclachy.
A friends NB is I think slightly smoother than my gearbox and when installed a ssk she experienced the exact same thing.
Normal gear changes are fine, bit stiffer, Both her and my wife use two hands (gotta be careful what I wrote here :twisted: ) to get it into reverse now.
I often wonder if a weighted knob would help

Im at a loss you say your SE perfectly fine ? but go on to say friends NB is I think slightly smoother ??? How many Ks on the SE???how many on the NB ??


Still say you have a linkage problem my tiny 11yo daughter can select reverce on the SE single handed :roll: :roll:

Dude, there is no issue with the gearbox or the linkages. You really need to try the SSK to understand the difference. Everyone who trys it says the same thing, was good before, now it's great.

Anyway, the SSK was only relevant to this thread due to my experience with it and a weighted knob.

In summary, a weighted knob helps to reduce shift effort.

Dude take your knob off and report back how it feels I still cant see how a 400g lump swinging off a short shaft can make any difference to shift effort Dude

If thats the case just push 400g harder on the gear leaver you should get the same result ? :wink:
