I'm glad I saw that article. Side by side, I like my white nc much more, both front and rear end.

Now you know where my comments back on page one of the thread were coming from :)

Despite it being a car that some/many will like, I feel it's a real design misstep for the MX-5 family.

Until we see it in the flesh the rear end looks crap

Prefer to keep the NC2 and do a few minor mods
BBS Wheels with gold centres and Roadstersport Q exhaust will be enough

Nevyn post really shows how it is unmistakably an MX5. The car looks terrific and sticks with the image of a lws- thats what they promised and it looks like thats what they will deliver. To cap it off it's going to be cheaper than an NC so it should appeal to a niche who want a fun/ sports car. It also seems like it has no real competition in being a lws and convertible. Buying one is not always about whether its a great car or one that you admire but often more about other things. I would rate it at least on paper and reports and appearance as the best yet.

I'll be looking

Need to drive it, feel it
See what price it is....

It will need to be very, very good

I'm loving my NA8....so it's a big call to spend another $25-30,000? on a car, given my NA8 only has 80,000k on the clock
I'm in no panic....I have no need to be one of the first to own one

We'll see....I like it,but I'm not in Love....yet
You can't demand respect....you have to earn it
NA8 for Fun, CX5 for carrying crap...;)

The more I look at the ND, the more I like the NA.
I love my NB8B but styling-wise, the NA is the one.

On this same topic, it would be interesting to know how many (what proportion) of Forum Members bought their current car new.

Many MX5 owners, including me, feel that the NC was "a real design mis-step for the MX-5 family" and that the ND is a much more natural evolution from NA->NB->ND (the NC was the bastard love-child with a Chevrolet PT Cruiser) - OK, that last bit was a little harsh, I just don't like the "fatboy NC".

i like the new design other than the "can barely keep my eyes open" headlights and wouldn't be surprised if this overall shape was actually intended for the Alfa before they pulled out.

The Alfa would be nice but at £58000 in the UK, if it ever comes here will be 3 to 4 times the cost of a new MX5.
I love the new MX5 in the blue, can't wait to test one here

Until I saw those line up photos I quite liked the appearance of the ND, but now not so much ... will be interesting to see it in the flesh next to an NB (being my personal favorite) ...

Whatever ... no mattet how much I may like thr ND, we won't be buying one for quite a while ... our spare cash has gone on new verandah, decking, balustrading, fencing, screening and re-landscaping the gardens ... oh yeah and my SE

Sure, the ND has some curves that are roughly similar to an NB, flared wheel arches and mouth similar to an NC. Of course, it's also a two-seater roadster, so it has that in common, too.

But besides that, you look at stuff like the squared-off boot, the tail lights which have a way different shape to any of the past models, and its saggy-looking arse, and it's very different in places.

To generalise, I think the ND is like the rear end of a Z4 welded to the front end of a Toyota 86. Not a fan. But I'm sure it will sell well to people who really love that sort of look. We're all different.

Well, when you consider there are folk who didn't like the NB when it came out, and still don't like it... or the way people still bang on about the NC, that doesn't always hold true.

"Living in the past" is sometimes the best way to be. Take music. Just because an artist is "new", doesn't make them better than an artist you liked in 1975, 1985, 1995 or 2005 does it?
