Never.

As depending on the injector used, you'll never get a good idle without other compensating changes (spark, idle speed, etc)

I found the rest of the tuning experience to be easy (with a good base map). Idle took a while.

I used these links to sort mine out:

http://www.adaptronic.com.au/idle-set-up/

Also, I'm running an e420C with version 12 and all is well. Comms is really fast.

Yep we definitely will!
I'm in Karratha again but I plan on just relaxing in Perth for Christmas break this time and working on the car.

We don't see you on IRC anymore. Hopefully that's a good thing and it means you're busy :)

Im looking to run an Adaptronic ecu with the Dash 2, whilst still NA.
Ill be working closely with pham to make a engine harness that will incorporate the extra sensors for the turbo setup.

Im a complete noob to anything that isn't factory turbo diesel {work ute} when it comes to turbos.
I think alot of the info is internal to the dash 2 {from the ecu ?} but thats a far as ive gotten.

I would like the dash to read oil temp, water temp. oill pressure, boost, speed, revs, odomoeter, shift lights, etc.

i just dont know what sensors i need to wire in
any info is appreciated.

I think this might be SE specific..

All the crap that sits up near the fuse box on the upper drivers side of the engine bay, (Denso boost sensor, vacuum lines, etc.) can that all be removed during the install of a Select ECU.

In other words does the aadaptronic utilise anything that's there?

A lot of that "crap", including many of the hoses on the intake manifold, is for VTCS control.

From www.mazda-speed.com (you should do some searches on this site for VTCS deletes):
VTCS is a tumble control system that effectively emulates varied valve lift by decreasing the volume of the intake channel. This gives higher intake velocities at low RPM, causing the air to "tumble" in the combustion chamber, making the fuel and air mix better improving emissions, and possibly giving a little better low RPM torque if implemented correctly.

The Adaptronic ECU can control VTCS but many guys simply get rid of it.

If you remove VTCS you can get rid of all that "crap" - I did this when I switched to the squaretop/flattop intake manifold. The OEM intake manifold has a lot of extra barbs to support VTCS which you'll need to block off, in addition to disabling the VTCS butterfy valves - the squaretop doesn't have VTCS or these extra barbs so looks much neater (and more legit).

If you can, I'd recommend trying to source a squaretop manifold since it doesn't have the VTCS butterfly valves or ports so you won't need to worry about the delete or blocking off unused ports.

In Australia, the NB8As came with the squaretop manifold (eg Tesco's car):

See if you can source one from a wrecker if you can't find one on the forum (the NB8A motors seem to be less desired than the later NB motors so you have a good chance of getting the intake manifold from a long-dead NB8A engine - and because they're aluminium, they'll clean up new so don't worry about one that looks shite with surface crud, use it to bargain the price down).

WARNING: Replacing the intake manifold is a B***H of a job getting to the lower intake manifold nuts/bots - right up there with replacing an SE's downpipe.

Those manifolds only come on the VVT engines Lokiel.

Done the IM a fair few times before and after rebuilding my engine to sort some things out. So I don't find it too bad anymore. Extra ports already blocked up with caps. Perks of working at SCA haha.

Butterflies have been removed, remaining holes epoxied up and then smoothed out the runners with a die grinder. If anyone still has their butterflies in, so you know, there is a pretty decent lip before the machined face where the butterfly sits. Essentially they machined a smooth surface after casting and didn't bother blending the ridge.

Anyone have the dead times of the yellow bodied 440cc RX8 injectors? I can't seem to get the car to hold idle. Any tips for the gurus?

If the rest of the fuel system is standard then it wont be a constant fuel pressure.

I could give you what's working for my ID725s and try and guess the fuel pressure from there or look for a graph of the pressure online.

There are a few graphs online. I'm between laptops at the moment so can't pull my injector details.
