I'm wondering if I should limit how many times I open/close the hard top, just as a longevity thing.
And miss out on one of the very things that you purchased the car for. I wipe all of the seals with a clean damp cloth every couple of weeks and check them for leaf litter etc. The only time that I recall anyone having an issue was when they left an object in the storage well and opened the roof, the repair cost was horrendous.

P.S. Read Reggie's sig.

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Is that the Qld car at NatMeet 2012?
That was a broken micro switch that ultimately cost about $150 delivered from a Mazda dealer in the USA. I'm not sure how much fitting worked out to be but was only a cupla hundred as I recall.
Mazda in Australia would only supply a complete roof at over $3000 plus painting, fitting etc. etc. as spare parts like micros are simply not available here. i.e. Japan does not supply to the Australian market.

Re: Got my car
It was a Melbourne car, damage included bent and broken bits and pieces. At the time I wondered if one of the limiting switches had failed.

Re: Got my car
Congratulations on the car...
Not much you can do with the Bose... if you want to change the HU, you can get an adapter, however you maintain the same amps and weirdo impedance speakers (and effectively don't do much to the sound and loose some functionality). If you change speakers, you have to dump the amps and the speakers and need a contraption to mould the line outputs into standard signals 99% of the worlds amps read (ie anything other than Bose amps)... then you get better sound (maybe) or louder (probably)
It is basically a full "bosectomy" or leave it alone... My Bose tweets were cactus when i got my car, and i needed full BT to drive it for work (min spec for me to charge KM was ABS, BT and 4 airbags!) so i did the bosectomy and a jvc/POLK install... my recommendation if you have healthy speakers is leave it alone.
The Bose is Meh as sound goes, but it does cater for roof up or down... don't underestimate how different an NC is with various roof deployments... in tuning my amps/crossover point etc I ran pink noise through the system and RTA to set everything...
roof up,windows up
roof up,windows down
roof down, windows up
roof down, windows down
if you multiply that by "at the lights" and "doing 100" (mine is a soft top), all have massively different RTA curves.... you have to satisfice 8 scenarios
In summary, it aint that good, but it aint that bad in some respects, messing with it aint easy, leave it to the pros (not hack shops) if you do want to change it.
(i hate Bose- disclaimer... there it is)
