Today I received my non AFM BEGI intake pipe.
Here's a comparison between the AFM version and the (old style) non maf version.

As the engine wiggles back and forth this can cause some issue with the fixed intake box. BEGI no longer extend this intake instead they provide a MAF replacement pipe which adds a little wiggle room.

Here is it fitted.

You're going to have a helluva job trying to spot an oil leak in that engine bay mate! :shock:

I'm a bit confused by the post, you start off by saying BEGi don't make the fixed extended length pipe anymore due to problems this causes with movement of the engine and now supply an extender with some flexibility. You even show a picture of this piece.

However what seems to be installed is the old style solid unit....

Which did you actually get? Was it the old style one as it appears and if so why not get the newer piece with flexibility?

Even though the older style can cause an issue I still think it's a much neater solution and managed to order one before they changed the design. I'm going to see how it goes.

I had the AFM version before the non AFM version.

Started to fit some offset suspension bushes.

Went to Bunnings and get the bits required to make a DIY tool

Removing the old bush

That's a brilliant way of getting the bushes out. They're a bitch of a thing to get out.

Sunday was the last event of our club motorsport calendar I was praying for good weather because the tyres were finished.

A couple of gopro frames

Tyres were rooted and starting to fall apart, discovered the front right had a slow leak and needed to be pumped up between runs

The SE as it currently stands

Didn't put many updates up last year, haven't done much to the car other than try and learn to drive it better.

I had bought some cheap second hand AO50 225's and was hoping the offset bushes would let them squeeze inside the rolled guards.

Thanks to Shane at Tyreways Bentley for all his help. We had to wind up the suspension to stop them scrubbing but with heavier braking at the track it started to scrub so I raised it a little more.

Back in August I bought a CarbonMiata hardtop. Postage from Brissie to Perth was a killer but the box was this big:

The plan was to collect it from a local depot, install the latches and drive it home on the MX-5.

I got a call from the parent courier company (PEP - Hunter Transport) saying it was too big for the small suburban outlet and I had to pick it up from their main depot. I agreed because it's not that far out of my way and I could get there after work.

When I picked up the hardtop the courier company expected me to take my packaging with me. I thought that might happen but I hadn't accounted for the massive amount of bubble wrap and foam on the inside of the box.

I turned it into a challenge and managed to fit most of the bubble wrap in the boot. The lexan window in the middle of the car and smashed the wooden bits onto small pieces and ripped the box into small bits too stuffing these into the passenger seat, footwell, behind the seats and under the soft top.

I couldn't see out the passenger side or much out the rear so I took all the back streets I could on the way home.

Bit by bit I bought all the parts I needed to install the hardtop, forced shutdown over Christmas meant I had some time to install the rear window.

I remember reading Keith's targa Miata post about making a lexan rear window, he used silicon under the polycarbonate and it ended up looking messy.

I decided to use some rubber under the lexan and a bead of silicon around the edge.

I got some motorbike faring domed washers to try and make everything look clean.
