Adjustable End-links clunking

I've just fitted adjustable end-links (949 Racing) to front & rear along with a whiteline swaybar (front only). I have adjusted them (with the car on the ground) till the swaybar is parallel to the ground. I think that's the correct method?
But the bloody things clunk when I hit a small bump/undulation.

Is this the norm with these or have I adjusted them incorrectly?

How tight were the rose joints on the ends? Some can be greased but if they're knocking more than likely they are too worn for grease and will need to be replaced.

The funny thing is there doesn't appear to be noticeable play. There obviously is though.

From memory the 949 links are rose jointed ie: metal on metal.

Clunking is a fact of life with that kind of joint, which is why the factory joints use rubber bushes.

All you can do is either life with it, or replace them with bushed joints.

edit: bushed joint endlinks I mean.

I've lost part of an 949 racing end link on the road, I think I ended up replacing the nut with a nyloc one.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I dissagree. If everything is tight and as it should be, there shouldn't be movement or clunks.

Yeah, 949 Racing state on their website that there should not be any clunking. So it looks like I'm up for new rose joints.

Or can anyone recommend a better type.?

Racing Beat end links are adjustable and use poly bushings. They are also cheap.

I have used Whiteline links with good results but they are also heim/rose jointed.

I am surprised you are having trouble with the 949 links.

I've got the Racing Beat end links and the clunk, it seems to be getting worse over the last year as well. Drives me nuts but can't seem to find a solution for it.

It maybe possible to buy the rose joints locally http://www.linearbearings.com.au/Products/RodEnds/tabid/126/Default.aspx? Whilst I am suprissed to hear that the 949's are stuffed, the car they came from looks like it did not have an easy life, spent a lot of time on dirt roads and other issues.

So why do you need adjustable link ends?
i'm guessing the std one are too short????

Then make up some of these, I ran these on the Clubman and scooter (racing for 2 years)
Quiet and cheap to do.

I won't advise on the type, but will suggest that to improve longevity you try one of the different types of rubber seals/covers, especially if this is a dd.

Try to reinstall them again. I have the 949 ones in the front of my Astina for about one year, and the whiteline ones in the rear for about two years. The Astina is a daily and does about 12000km per year. No issues.
