You're dad's a top bloke - I like.
My parents splurged on a battery jumpstarter kit. Clearly they feel that my cars are less "sport orientated" and more "broken orientated".

So the other day i installed the BD rollbar and love it!

I got to drive a twin turbo 300zx recently. Wow! if I could get that power but with the mx5 chassis and handling id be very happy!

Just do a quick search and you'll find many people happy with bc's, mca's or ohlins (from cheapest - crazy expensive) lots haven't been impressed with yellowspeeds, I wouldn't bother with them personally. The other option is a koni shock and king spring combo, which is what I'm running currently. Awesome in the mountains but way too soft for track/drifting. High quality dampeners for low cost. Height is adjustable in 3 steps. They go a fair bit below 100mm ride height on lowest setting.

Yeah they are quick as from factory and can be built to go super quick... BUUUT maintenance is an absolute bitch on them, pretty much 0 room in the bay to do much without pulling the engine and the cost of keeping a zed running compared to an mx5 is soooooooo much worse haha. And i think a basic turbo setup on an mx5 would keep up with a stock TT zed. Marty's one from mcm is running around the 14's and that around what zeds run stock, but once you start putting lots of cash into tuning both the zed will out perform the mx5 in terms of power ect. and honestly i've dríven my dads zed and i have just as much fun in my non turbo mx5

So haven't updated you guys in a while so thought id make a post outline what ive done to my mx5 over the past couple of weeks.
so a couple of days ago i installed a central locking kit with some help from my dad since im not very good with electrics. other than figuring out the wiring and running the wires through the car it was pretty easy.
Then last week i picked up a hardtop from manly for what i think was a decent price.
And then just today i got around to getting the door cards back on with some new of that plastic stuff behind it, and super happy with the result! And yes the drivers seat is stuffed if any of you know of someone selling an na drivers seat let me know! and also the steering wheel has seen better days.

So now i am thinking about attempting to do a respray on the car by myself (the current paint is terrible), i've done the basic research and reckon i can pull it off and have fun doing it.
I've done some spray paint related jobs before and think that i may be up to the task, only this time investing in an actual compressor and gun rather than doing it with spray cans.
Has anyone reading this done their own respray before and if so are there and useful tips i should know about or things i should watch out for? I know i'm not going to get as good as a result compared to if i get a professional to do it, but i figured id save a bit of cash and learn some new skills which i hope to expand on in the future.
Previous paint related repair i did on my e36 bmw prior to purchasing my mx-5, i just used cans for this:
Notice the damage under the rear right tail light.
Was thinking of spraying my car another type of white to save the effort of pulling the engine to do the bay, have settled on the LFA white (079) but still need to do more research on it and how hard it is to spray.

If its one of Lexus's special metallic pearls I'd not attempt it. If a straight white, go for it.

so i haven't updated this in a while as not much has happened with the car due to low funds. However in the time that i hadn't posted anything i managed to pick up a replica GV lip off another forum member and also some new wheels! Next will be paint followed by suspension.
