I walk to work now, but I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't like driving in boots!

Always wear converse or volleys when I'm driving - if I have to look fancy then the RMs get thrown on when I'm done driving. I *can* drive with them on, but let's just say I'd rather put them on when I get there.

As an answer to the original question, probably about 20 seconds to kick off the volleys and slip on the boots.
Because reasons.

If you have 15 minutes spare tonight, jump in your roadster with a spare set of socks and try to put them on and take them off. The combination of a fixed steering wheel and as Lachy said the drivers armrest/handle makes this more difficult task than licking your elbow.

Shoes are easy since they are semi-solid material unlike socks. You gotta reach for your toes!!!

(As Greg said it was dress shoes to steel toe boots)

I feel as I'll be burnt at the stake for stating this but isn't it illegal to drive without shoes?

I never wear any sort of footwear when driving the MX5 as any sort of footwear clearly reduces the effective manipulation of the pedals in such a small footwell.
I've been pulled over for a Breath Test on several occasions and they have never checked my footwear - bigger fish to fry I imagine.

I won't burn anyone, but it's definitely not illegal in Queensland. I don't know if it is anywhere else either - or if it ever has been.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's an old wives tale passed on through Australian generations! Anyone with evidence one way or another, I'm all ears!
Because reasons.

Dunno - much like flying barefoot, it's really not good practice from a safety point of view (yes, I do it too). I thought there was provision in the road rules (Qld) for "appropriate clothing or footwear" but a quick dig through the legislation brought up nothing, apparently the only things you need to "wear" are seatbelts or, if you're on a bike, a helmet...one you put on your head...

I know in NSW it is expressly forbidden for a driver to consume alcohol whilst driving (Rule 298/1) but it seems to be a NSW specific rule and there is no equivalent in the Qld legislation or the standardised national rules, and there is no mention in either document about open containers of alcohol.

This is my 'expert' legal opinion as an electrician and should be treated as such...

When im driving the mx 95% of the time I'm bare foot.

When I get to work I just open the door and sit sideways in the seat, dont have to worry about wrecking the bolsters as they are already stuffed.
