Assuming it's what you saw, could be final production model testing, or local homologation testing.

While speaking with my Mazda dealer today regarding the delivery of my new BT-50, I happened to ask about this very thing, He laughed.

Eh, they're likely to be out there. We saw the Camaro running around Melbourne a good two years before it went on sale in the US, and Vectras were seen here 18 months before release - I went to a clinic for the Vectra about a year before its release locally, so that would have been after the local specs and mods were finalised.

Mazda Head office is located in Victoria, if they did have one in Australia for testing it's very unlikely it would be seen on a main road in Northern Sydney......

Besides the OP claims "I saw the new MX this morning" when posting at 5:59am?....... REALLY?

Well he does claim it was black so maybe it was actually the Batmobile!

Sunbaker, I thought I saw you cruising in your home town of Broken Hill earlier today...how could you be in Sydney, especially when Woolworths Mildura is closer to pick up your groceries....

Here is a rather sexy rendering of what a modern day interpretation of the Fiat 124 Sport Spider could look like as a re-skinned ND. Pure speculation of course, but it would look damn fine in my garage.

guys Nevyn mentioned the Batmobile and leads me to my little story. Last week whilst walking the dog and crossing a side street and lo and behold arrives the Batmobile- excellent condition and a great eye catching vehicle. It was complete with the masked crusader and a young lady in the passenger seat- but no room for Robin. I gave Batman the thumbs up and he asked me if I had seen any criminals around the area. I responded no and he remarked that he must be doing his job very well. Another thumbs up from me and he hangs a turn and disappears up the street with red light flashing. It made my morning- who gets to see Batman when out walking the dog in a suburban street- my lucky day.
Now I believe in Batmobiles so just maybe there is an MX5 of the latest generation ready to pass you as you pick up the paper or walk the dog.
