Thanks

Re: Major rattle in stock na6 diff
It makes very loud grinding and rattling noises while the car is decelerating, very annoying
would you have an idea of how much a rebuild would cost?

Re: Major rattle in stock na6 diff
Those noises are a pretty good indication it's about stuffed.
Rebuild costs would depend on what is damaged inside and needs replacing.
The most cost effective way to fix it would be to replace the entire diff with a secondhand one, the diffs from the 1.6 aren't usually that sought after, so can be picked up fairly cheaply. (I've seen anywhere from a case of beer to about $150 listed on 1.6 open diffs)

Weren't you chasing for big hp and going for a torsen? Maybe I have you confused with someone else. Will check my PMs
If you are chasing big hp, go straight for the torsen!

Sounds like its a lsd diff ('92?). Best bet is to start looking now for a torsen - they run for quite a while like that - just get s annoying.

Re: Major rattle in stock na6 diff
Not meaning to question your ability to diagnose the source of the rattle, but are you 100% sure that it is the diff?
NA6 have issues with a rattle in the exhaust heat shield Fixed by locking down the heat shield with a hose clamp, or removing the heat shield or bending the heat shield to stop the offending part from rubbing on the exhaust. Note that this noise is only apparent during a certain engine rev range.
Gearbox noises due to gear lash issues. Quite often only appears after the gearbox has been removed to fit a new clutch. Found that replacing the diff with one from a later model fixed the issue as the later model as thick rubber isolation pads at the tail shaft and diff connection point......of course this will also fix your issue as stated........
