Thanks.

The body kit is well blended in, so looks like it is there to stay without major damage, re-spray so that is modification 1.

I have the Torsen 2 with a 4.3:1 ratio in Britney so I could swap that in and put a standard exhaust back on. As Helen also has a NB8A I can swap parts across.

However, I have to decide if I try to sell Britney as a going concern to a young enthusiast to extend her life as a track car, or if I part her out and keep what I need for the NB.

Parts I could transfer include the Sparco Sprint V, 6 point harness, Brown-Davis ROP (I bought a NB version), Torsen 2 and maybe the KYB coil-overs (NB version) for hillclimbs. The track pads will be usable on the NB.

Does anyone know the rules on rim/tyre size ? I have a set of Kumho KU36 205x50x15 on 15x6.5" rims for road use - are these usable in clubman class, or does it have to be stock NB8A rims. The rules seem to suggest a maximum tyre size of 205 ?

From memory you can go up to an inch over the stock wheel size in width.

Carco installed a set of hydraulic lifters and gave Britney a check-over and all is now good, no noises or rattles and she runs as well as before.

Will try to run the October Canberra Fairbairn Park hillclimb in Britney to prove her good health then try to sell her and the car-trailer off.

Picked up a set of 15x7" to mount semi-slicks for hillclimbs and state rounds and have a set of Kumho KU36 for MX5 trackdays, so am slowly getting the Gold NB8A ready to hit the track, maybe in December.

Had a great run at Canberra Fairbairn Park Hillclimb on October 19 in what will be Britney's last competitive run with me.

1st in class 3A with a 49.51 (finally that elusive 49), but they have re-surfaced the track and made it quicker.

A great dice with a quick Toyota Sprinter, me 49.9, him 49.8, me a missed gear, him 49.71, me a 49.68, him a final run of 49.64 and then me a 49.51 on my final run, after a big lock-up on the final downhill corner and a scrambled recovery - great fun all day.

I have pulled the Brown Davis, Sparco V and harness out of Britney to go into the gold Nb8A. I will also remove the Torsen 2 and then hopefully sell on Britney on to another local enthusiast.

Congratulations Peter. That's a great way to send off Britney. It'll be sad to see her move on but hopefully the new owner will stick with the same use.

Britney is now retired and looking for a new owner, after a very enjoyable and succesful run with four Class 5M wins, a 2nd in a 3A state supersprint championship and some hillclimb class wins.

I have removed the Sparco V, harness and Brown Davis and have swapped the Torsen 2 into the NB and put the stock NB8A open diff into Britney.

She has been advertised locally for around $2,500, and just needs a Brown Davis and seat to be back on track. So if anyone knows of someone looking for a rough, but very effective 1600 track NA6 then send them my way.

Current specifications - 1989 NA6 1600 :

CARCO rebuilt 1600 ( rebuilt in 2010 approx 40,000 km) with original bore, pistons and cams, new water pump, cam belt, hoses, alternator and plug leads. Head is shaved and has cleaned up ports, running 12 degrees advance on 98 ulp as compression is unknown.
NA6 standard radiator, with plastic panel to help airflow.
2nd hand extractors and cat, 2" cat back exhaust (original exhaust provided).
DDM Works pod filter with heat shield from Rspeed (replaces stock air box).
1800 clutch and NA6 5-speed with new gearshift kit fitted. New rear wheel bearings.
NB8A open diff with rebuilt driveshafts and tail shaft (ex 1998 NB8A ).
NB KYB AGX adjustable coil-overs with Ground Effect springs (375 lb front and 250 lb rear).
Alignment : front -2.2 camber (using offset lower bush) with maximum caster, rear -1.8.
Red aftermarket swaybars (rear adjustable).
Carco front swaybar brace and Mania front and rear underbody braces
NA8/NB rotors and calipers with braided brake lines.
NA6 14” daisy wheels for street and 15x6.5" rims with worn out semi-slicks 205x50x15 for track.
CAMS spec tow hooks front and rear and CAMS spec fire extinguisher mounted on passengers floor.
NB soft top.
Full interior trim with Kenwood stereo.
Drift flat bottom steering wheel (same bolt pattern as original Momo).

Off to the next challenge - chasing Gus and Bryan in Clubman - more fun to be had

See For Sale ads for Britney and 12x6 car trailer.

She needs to be back on the track with someone enthusiatic enough to keep up her winning ways while I trail along behind in my NB8A road car.
