Rest in peace Russ.
Yup he's been been a great contributor here and will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers go out to to his family and friends.

Well this sucks
Top bloke. Utterly batshit insane in the best possible way. Some of the stuff he built was amazing. Hell I've still got the awesome ported/cammed 100rwkw 1.8 he built for me..

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Yes, an absolute tragedy and only 39 - not fair.
He and Dave built the motor for and half the mechanicals of Britney (red NA6 1600).
He loved the anti-lag on the rally car and even though he had a great run in TurboBoy as a race car, Russell never got over the thrill of a hydraulic handbrake and a full blooded power slide.
I have rarely met anyone with such a enthusiasm for all life brings (rally cars, race cars, hang-gliding, model aircraft, etc) and who lived it at 110%.
Russell also had a very gentle side that many didn't see, caring for his grandmother and looking after his old blind dog. He was so proud of the cottage he was renovating in Harden and loved to show off his latest improvements.
He was always willing to help anybody with anything, including emptying their esky.
RIP Russell.

Well said Peter.

We farewelled Russell yesterday, at Ainslie's All Saints - some of you Sydney-siders may be aware of its place in Sydney's transportation history.
It was a big turn out, including lots of clubbie and MX5 people and their cars. It was good to see so many Club members from Sydney there, I won't name names except to say the representation started from the top ... After the service we adjourned to the house where Russ previously lived in Downer, where many stories were told - until a vicious storm interrupted proceedings. I heard someone say that was a result of Russ up there experimenting with the controls ...
Rest in peace Russ, we miss you

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

Re: Russell Battisson (Russellb)
Was a lovely ceremony and great to see so many people. The main thing that stuck in my mind throughout the whole day was just how many people had basically the same story. There was this time where I was in a pinch, and Russ helped us out.
